I don't watch movies at IMAX, is that screen the same dimensions as IMAX? Isn't that Casio cropping or missing seeing the edges of the frame in conventional widescreen?

1.43 IMAX would be the same as this TV, correct. he's been using this as far back as the prestige though which is pre-Nolan IMAX timeline.

On a serious note, why do you think he prefers this method?

the digital tap feed from IMAX and most 35mm cameras is fairly primitive anyways (low quality) there really isn't much advantage to using a fancy 4K LCD monitor that needs way more power and even rigging. this shows the frame and it's stupidly simple and light.
