May the benevolent Lord forgive me, but I do believe this is the first time I have posted anything from Big Train, which remains one of my favourite sketch shows from, well, any decade really. This sketch, London to Edinburgh, is one of my favourites from the series, not least because the performances (from Simon Pegg and Amelia Bullmore), are inspired. Good morning.

For me, one of the jewels in the Alan Partridge crown is Mid Morning Matters. Written by Steve Coogan and Neil and Rob Gibbons, they shifted the tone from the broad sitcom style of I’m Alan Partridge to something more subtle and claustrophobic. Only 12 were made, each lasting just 15 minutes, and they’re all pure gold. Anyhoo, this is one of my (many) favourite moments from the show. If I’d written this, I’d retire island somewhere with a great big smile on my face. Toodloo.

As many of know I’m a sucker for a Carry On film, just as I’m a sucker for television programmes featuring the talents of Bob Mortimer and Vic Reeves. Imagine my joy and surprise then when, almost 30 years ago, the latter parodied “that scene” from Carry On Camping in an episode of Shooting Stars. I remember watching it when it was first broadcast and I’m not embarrassed to admit that I very nearly soiled myself. Bob’s impression of Sid James and Will Self’s Bernard Bresslaw are to be treasured forever. Good day.

Filmed in Boston in 1991, this special compiles sketches spanning Atkinson's career - from his early Oxford days to Mr Bean. While most of us will immediately recognise the iconic opener featuring Toby the Devil welcoming souls to Hell, the Wedding Day trilogy of sketches offers a hidden gem. The first of the three, this one, is a bit like me really, short and rather coarse, and although you can see the punchline coming from a mile away, the anticipation makes the payoff even more satisfying. The Lebanese news site "Al-Modon" published exclusive footage filmed this morning showing from a distance a joint patrol of the Lebanese Army and UNIFIL forces, during which missiles belonging to the Hezbollah terrorist organization were removed from one of the group’s positions. I asked JJ Redick about this and whether or not he has also shown tape from his playing days on defense to his team. He said there has been only one time, and it was in a clip featuring LeBron James on offense with JJ defending him. “The only clip I've ever shown the team was, we were not taking charges to start the year, my first year, last year, and I wanted to get the guys incentivized to understand the importance of taking charges and using that as a means of rim protection. So I showed a clip of me taking a charge on LeBron, catching his spoon move, and it was his left elbow that went into my eye, and I got nine stitches and a concussion, but that's the one clip I've ever shown them.”

My daughters were banned from dance classes, we were all banned from society, I was fired after 19 years of work and for what? This decision caused more harm than good and still not one person has answered for it.
