I interviewed Don Norman in an honest conversation (that has now gone viral). It's a fallacy that designers only need to focus on design; business knowledge is too important. Don discussed with me: Design education needs to change to focus on broader skills and design thinking, they often lack the understanding of how the world works and are only trained with an art basis. Understanding business operations and economics is crucial for making a difference in the world. What are your 2c on this?

She shouts and asks a question and instantly makes a video of it, who does that 🤔 Secondly, when you question a Prime Minister of a foreign country you do your homework. She said she’d done her research. Now when this gentleman asks her to specify the human rights violations she caught, look at her body language, she says she doesn’t have her fact sheet and she’ll come another day to answer that 😅 Come on, who are you fooling, lady?? My Wife’s vibe coded her first app and here it is in action today She created a ticket and check in system for a charity event in Vietnam. Every existing system is fully online but a lot of the elderly in Da Nang don’t have phones or don’t know how to use technology. This app lets you design and print out physical tickets for distribution and then lets staff scan the ticket so that it can’t be reused. You also take a photo of the person and facial recognition makes sure people don’t slip back in line a second time. She is a product lead and a designer but has no engineering background. Vibe coding is not just about making MRR. It empowers everyone to build useful tools for the real world.

If you think about a default team with 5 engineers, 1 designer, 1 PM—with Claude Code, that five engineers is like 2 to 3x'd, and the PMs and designers have also increased, but now they're managing what is effectively a much larger group of engineers. So though the head count and the org structure hasn't changed, you're now just dealing with a situation of maybe 15-20 engineers, 2 PMs, and 2 designers across the board. We're feeling PM and design is just being squeezed. Just absolutely squeezed. We just need to actually hire a ton more PMs."
