I get it. I have my three boys, aged 32, 28 & 24, over for dinner once or twice a week, and I still miss them like crazy.

I remember both moments when I understood why my dad cried at my birth.

He will always need you, just in different ways as he goes through the various stages of life. Enjoy every moment. It goes by so quickly. My one and only 21 years old daughter - who I can remember so vividly holding just like you are holding your sweet little son - is getting married next year, so she will be leaving us. Her dad and I are excited for her, we love her fiancé like our own child, yet we are sad. We know things will be different when she leaves. But then again, we began preparing her to leave us one day the moment she was born. She was really cute the other day. She told us, “I am really happy to be getting married, but I don’t want to leave you guys either. You’ll just need to stay close by.” 🤣

I lost my mom when I was 53, and I still miss her hugs.

When my baby was 2 months old I cried my eyes out because I had the thought of him not being able to cross the road independently at age 90 and I was going to be dead by then 😂😂.

This is where it’s at. If we only switched the complain button off and switched the gratitude button on… life changing. 😭💕

Understanding #motherhood #BabyLivesMatter

@conmomma Omg I feel her 💔 I always tell my kids I wish I could squish them back down to when they were little 🩷

That little baby will always need his mom. Everyone needs a mother, and at 49 and at 2:00am, battling a cold, I really need my mom and her hugs.

@conmomma When my son was 2 weeks old, I called my Dad crying & said how can you stand me living so far away? My parents were in Houston & I lived in San Antonio. My Dad said- Paige he’s only two weeks old -I said I know but he’s gonna grow up & move & I can’t stand that thought😭

Already my 4mo is no longer physically a part of me. My 2 ½ year old, even less so. For the rest of their lives, they'll be moving away from me, if I do my job right. 🥲

Yes. More of this please. That’s a proper mama right there.

Raising kids who no longer need their parents is a badge of honor, imo. Far better to have kids that can take care of their own lives and families than to have kids who have to live at home into their 30s and rely on their parents for everything. It’s a bittersweet success.

You never appreciate your parents until you become one!!!

Amen 😎👊🏾

CHILDREN ARE A BLESSING!!!!

Now that's what it's all about - nothing else matters in the end.

I'm thinking that a big part of the experience of motherhood is feeling so happy and so proud, while your heart is breaking.

She's wrong btw Children will always need their parents. I know an elderly woman who still misses her dad

Used to read "I'll Love You Forever" to my little boys. I would sob then. I recently read it to them again... "for fun." 🤓 It hits different at 24 & 22.. Audible, ugly face, crying. "I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always, As long as I'm living My baby you'll be."

I cry every time I think of my babies not needing me anymore 😭

They will always need you my boys always need me still today just in a different way she is going to be a great mother

And one day he’ll go into his room and barely talk to you. People will say its just a phase but sometimes it isn’t

I would give anything to go and hold my babies as infants again…every sleepless night, chaos, and stress. Being a mother should be treated with honor. Not an obligation or chore

Geez this is making me sob.....sometimes I'll hold my little girl and just cry because I realize she won't be so little eventually. It's amazing to watch them grow up but it can really pull at your heart strings

Idea I read recently on x: If kids loved their parents more than their parents loved them, the death of parents would be inconsolable. But also ( my additional thought): Kids love for their parents continue to grow their entire lives

Children are the best thing in the world. Those who don't have them, dont know

This is how I felt! I don’t understand the same Lindsay crowd. When my daughters were born i immediately saw them and thought “omg im so in love! I hope i can give you everything you need and want forever!” My heart never felt so full!

Not easy, not glamorous and always tiring but infinitely worth it. Thanks for being a mom.

I’m a grandma and I cry when I think of possibly not being around to see all my grandsons grow up and be there to protect them and love them throughout their lives. It never stops.

How a mother should be.

They grow up, have babies, you become grandma, then if you're extra lucky you become great grandma and then you hope that your legacy will be remembered and that they are okay. 😭

If I can offer some solace, they do need us still, just in different ways.

❤️
