You heard it here first: Iron Dome is essentially free for Israel, since it is now in mass production and its manufacturing is subsidised by export orders to the tune of billions. The ability of the Tamir interceptors to shoot down ballistic missiles was first seen in June, in their terminal attack phase, and it totally inverts the cost equation between Iran and Israel in the missile anti-missile war. The interceptors are much cheaper than the missiles, and so far their launch systems have proven impervious to counterattack, even agaisnt the largest ballistic missile inventory ever assembled. Rumours of Israel running short on interceptors are false. The IDF has begun using interceptors against some of the cluster munitions, itself an extraordinary feat—to be able to assess the risk of up to 80 munitions at once and fire off dozens of interceptors to hit the ones that pose the most danger. In the first weeks of this war, Israel did not attempt to intercept the small munitions, since they pose minimal risk to civilians under shelter. Their lethal blast radius is just a few metres, and many are failing to detonate. In total, the thousands of bomblets killed three people. Since videos now show Iron Dome activated against this negligible threat, the IDF clearly feels that the remaining Iranian and Hezbollah stockpiles are no match for their own interceptor stockpiles. The IDF claims to have intercepted about 93% of the 600 or so missiles fired at Israel from Iran, and while there are huge amounts of disinformation on this topic, the facts are the facts: some 500 tonnes of high explosive launched at Israel (500–1,000 kg per missile) has led to just 20 deaths, all civilians. So whatever Israel is doing, it is working.

The cruise missile program has not yet been sanctioned, although we are working on the various technologies which will get into the cruise missile. Recently, we have done a scramjet propulsion for more than 1,000 seconds. So that's been a major achievement, and once the program is sanctioned, we'll convert the scramjet propulsion into a working missile system. And I think that should take about five years after the sanction."

Russian military expert, historian of the Air Defense Forces Yuri Knutov explains: 💬 "If we look at the numbers being cited, Iran is said to have between 2,000 and 4,000 missiles. At a launch rate of around 100 or more per day, that would suggest roughly a month of sustained high-intensity missile attacks. As for THAAD interceptors, about 650 have been produced in total, with 150 used during a previous attack. That would leave roughly 400 remaining, possibly fewer. With careful and efficient use, that stock could last around 10 days — perhaps as little as five. If we’re talking about Patriot missiles, the US stockpile is larger, of course, but it can be depleted as well. Especially if they launch 10 missiles against a single Iranian ballistic missile, then they would have enough for three weeks, and that's with a very, very large margin. 👉 So Iran has a very important trump card right now. And if it uses its missiles correctly, saving its most technologically advanced ones, the hypersonic Fattahs, for the final stage—and the Fattahs are not intercepted at all by Israeli Arrow-3 missiles, nor by American THAAD and Patriot systems—then Iran essentially has a chance to land a very painful blow on Israel and the US. And in that way, essentially, to take revenge for the surprise attack carried out on Iran. [The US] produces around 55 interceptors per month, which is not enough to rapidly replenish heavy battlefield usage. New production facilities are under construction in Germany and Romania, but they are not yet operational. While some missiles could potentially be sourced from Arab states, yet Arab countries are using these missiles too. That’s why I say that given this intensity, this missile use can endure from two to three weeks, four weeks tops. But we don’t know the situation in Iran. It’s possible Iran has underground plants where ballistic missiles are produced as well."

Key statements by chief designer of Fire Point company Denys Shtilerman Denys Shtilierman on the Ukrainian FP-7 and FP-9 ballistic missiles: ▪️ The FP-7 ballistic missile will soon be tested against targets in Russia. ▪️ A clone of the S-300 missile has been developed for existing launchers. After integration with radar systems - a complex process - it could form the basis of an anti-ballistic shield under the Freya project. ▪️ The missiles are cheaper than the original S-300 due to simplification and the use of new manufacturing technologies. ▪️ The missile can also be used as a cheaper analogue of ATACMS. This is how the FP-7 missile with a range of up to 300 km, depending on the warhead, was developed. ▪️ The FP-7 warhead is expected to be larger than that of ATACMS, while the missile itself will cost 2.5 times less. ▪️ The developers say they are ready to produce as many FP-7 missiles as ordered. Cruise missiles and drones cannot reach targets in Moscow because they are intercepted. ▪️ Our luck is that in Russia the cost of missile production is inflated several times over because of theft.
