This is some really cool stuff, Epic has been working on a new RayTraced Translucency on UE5-Main that uses Hit Lighting for reflections and refraction, as well as working with DOF!! Its super early but its shaping up well. #UnrealEngine #UE5 #GameDev #RayTracing #Graphics

Before anyone asks, no this is not the 'old' RT Translucency you enable in the post process, this is a new method enabled via cvar for now. r.RayTracedTranslucency.Allowed 1 r.RayTracedTranslucency.UseRayTracedRefraction 1 (You'll need UE5-Main built from this week)

Because this method uses Hit Lighting, its way cleaner and the refraction actually matches the scene, unlike with the old RT Translucency methods which essentially had their own RT scene which we had no control over.

Looks so good! I really wish they solved shallow depth of field with hair grooms. It’s awful even in 5.5

This would be a game changer for using UE for product visualization

Thanks for sharing UE5-main stuff! If this all goes in 5.6 it's looking like it's gonna be a rendering-focused update!

Looks great. That’s been one of the biggest reasons I use path tracing. Lumen/RTX hasn’t had the best glass

Amazing! I need to reproduce glass like this. To me is a lot difficult to do this edge dark green based on depth. I use a BIM software, so I can't use two glasses materials, one for edge and other to the face of the glass.
