This is such an important contribution to the debate about the future. Great clip by Brenna Perez. We are now living in a world where to cheat is to win. Unfortunately there is no shortcut to critical thinking and once we ditch it, we lose. ๐ŸŽฅ TikTok -

I donโ€™t know who this woman is, but as someone who has worked in higher ed for 30+ years, I am thrilled to see someone with a platform making the point Iโ€™ve been screaming in my head for far too long. Thank you!!

"The Democratic Party's actions had left many U.S. citizens feeling humiliated. Signs of a Trump victory were proclaimed well before Biden withdrew from the race. The voters had had enough." ๐Ÿ“ @KarinaLMariani

The Bootstraps Lie: Power Was Never Earned, It Was Transferred There has never been a time in American history when white men โ€œpulled themselves up by their bootstraps.โ€ Thatโ€™s a myth, propaganda fed to the masses to justify stolen wealth, inherited power, and institutional favoritism. And if anyone still believes that lie, just look at what's happening right now. The entire system is rigged with cronyism, nepotism, and flat-out theft. These men didnโ€™t build anything on their own, they inherited it, manipulated the system, or took it from someone else. Corporate bailouts, insider deals, family handoffs, and elite networks are the real story behind their so-called success. The truth is, the only boots being pulled are the ones off the backs of working people, so the privileged can polish their own with stolen shine.

The left has already abandoned critical thinking and common sense.

LLMs arenโ€™t a pipeline to the rightwing this is moronic. Tiktok and humanities grads in dubious fields like this yapper are much more likely to push young men into bad political views

100%. Saw this too much even in primary sch. I homeschooled for a few yrs and used Singapore Math - all word problems. Later when parents were losing their minds over Common Core it was mainly that they never had to think thru math & wanted it all to be rote memorization.

You don't learn critical thinking skills from college in fact it all depends how your taught at the end of the day you can only learn critical thinking skills if the people teaching you have them an American college lack critical thinking skills obviously

You can't develop common sense without critical thinking skills. Magats have to learn the hard way by reinventing the wheel. Even then, they need a guidebook. Wait. That didn't make sense to me, but I bet it made sense to them.

Jensen to AI Leaders: โ€œWe have to be far more thoughtfulโ€ when communicating to the public Jensen Huang: โ€œ(AI) is not a biological being. It is not alien. It is not conscious. It is computer software.โ€ โ€œWe say things like, โ€˜We don't understand it at all.โ€™ It is not true. We understand a lot of things about this technology.โ€ Chamath: โ€œIf you were in the seat in the boardroom of Anthropic over that whole scuttlebutt with the Department of War, what do you think you would've told Dario and that team to do, maybe, differently to try to change some of this outcome and some of this perception?โ€ Jensen: โ€œThe first thing that I would say about Anthropic is, first of all, the technology is incredible. We are a large consumer of Anthropic technology.โ€ โ€œThe desire to warn people about the capability of the technology is also really terrific.โ€ โ€œWe just have to make sure that we understand that the world has a spectrum, and that warning is good, scaring is less good because this technology is too important to us.โ€ โ€œI think that it is fine to predict the future, but we need to be a little bit more circumspect. We need to have a little bit more humility, that, in fact, we can't completely predict the future.โ€ โ€œAnd to say things that are quite extreme, quite catastrophic, that there's no evidence of it happening, could be more damaging than people think.โ€ โ€œAnd of course we are technology leaders.โ€ โ€œThere was a time when nobody listened to us, but now because technology is so important in the social fabric, such an important industry, so important to national security, our words do matter.โ€ โ€œAnd I think we have to be much more circumspect, we have to be more moderate, we have to be more balanced, we have to be far more thoughtful.โ€
