KGF fame Yash had illegally cut down the trees in a forest in Bengaluru for #Toxic 🙏 You can plant a new sapling in 5 minutes, it takes 30 to 50 years for that tree to provide the same level of oxygen, shade, and carbon storage as the mature tree that was cut down 😑

Did you know the black bottu/bindi used on kids to ward off the evil eye wasn’t always from Kohl / kajal ? Traditionally, it came from the exudate of the Vengai tree (Pterocarpus marsupium), a beautiful native tree that literally “bleeds” when cut. I saw this beautiful tree during my field visit. The tree’s timber, valued next only to Red Sanders (Semmaram), is durable but never used for main door frames, as stepping on it is considered disrespectful. Under Green Tamil Nadu Mission Vengai is being planted in farmlands and around 10.3 lakh saplings have been planted so far in the last three years. Vengai trees are truly a natural heritage #Trees #InternationalDayofForest #VengaiTree

Giuseppe Penone created It Will Continue to Grow Except at That Point by casting his hand around the trunk of a young tree and then leaving it alone. Over time, the tree grew freely in every direction except where the hand once pressed, preserving a single, permanent indentation.
