🌳 Trees actually record every environmental pressure they ever experienced. Each growth ring contains the chemical signature of that year drought, disease, volcanic ash, temperature shifts. A cross section of an old tree is a 500 year climate archive. Penone's hand left a physical indentation. The atmosphere leaves a chemical one. Every living thing carries a permanent record of every force that ever touched it!

Wait… people are actually applauding a tree being “messed with” for art? So the tree grows naturally, except where a human decided to leave their mark. That’s basically forced evolution for the sake of Instagram aesthetics. Are we really celebrating creativity, or just subtle vandalism disguised as philosophy?

This is bullshit. Simply “touching” a tree is NOT going to do this. But ATTACHING a foreign object to a tree will. The superpower of the tree is that it will eventually ENVELOP the foreign object.

It does that with any obstruction you put on a tree. Even Brush that can grow into wood trees. I let a privet grow into a Tree vs. Shrub, and there was an iron bird feeder in it. The thing grew right into the trunk of it, so it's part of the tree now.

This man’s dog passed away a few months ago. They used to tie him up to this tree out in the front yard as he loved being outside. They even buried his leash at the base of the tree. As he was walking by the tree they used to tie him up to, they noticed a formation at the bottom of the tree on the trunk and it looks so similar to a photo they have of him. He said he’s aware of pareidolia, where people see patterns or formations in certain things. But he doesn’t believe it is that. I see it. Think it is so cool and beautiful. ❤️ Do you see it? What do you think it is? Ever heard of pareidolia? Think he is seeing what he wants to see? Or, do you think it is definitely a sign of his beloved dog?

This man who is a landscaper said you should never build a tree coffin around a tree. He said it ends up making the tree die by restricting the roots and having too much mulch. I never knew they were called "tree coffins". I looked it up and it does say they can be very detrimental to your tree if not done correctly. The pavers can restrict root growth and the mulch shouldn't be too thick or torching the base of the tree. I have seen some pretty nice "tree coffins". I never knew they were bad for your trees. Do you have these around your trees? Did you build one a certain way that allows your tree to flourish? What about the people who cemented their pavers together and in the ground?

Warmth by burning wood is the ultimate fuel source. It’s not because it’s the most efficient. It’s not because it’s the simplest or easiest. It’s because it’s the only fuel source anyone can reasonably obtain on a human-level. I think I may have shared the poem that really moved me. The title is “The Tree That Polishes Stars”, a poem by Gong Gwang-gyu. 🐰 (shy) It’s a bit funny. Some people might think I’m being dramatic, but since there are people who like things like this, I’ll read it. This isn’t my poem. It’s by Gong Gwang-gyu. 🐰 The title is “The Tree That Polishes Stars.”: Couldn’t a ginkgo tree be called a tree that polishes stars? A tree that, through rain, wind, and sunlight, diligently polished the stars. A golden tree dusted with stardust in autumn. I, too, want to become a tree that polishes stars - polishing the star that is you, until I turn beautifully golden because of you. Couldn’t someone like me be called a tree that polishes stars? Today, I joined the community in Gasabo District, Rutunga Sector, Kigabiro Cell, Rukerereza Village for Umuganda. Together, we gathered in recognition of World Water Day, International Day of Forests, and World Meteorological Day important moments that remind us how much we depend on nature every single day. One of the main activities was tree planting. As I placed a young tree into the soil, It reminded me that every tree we plant is a promise to protect our land, to preserve our water, and to leave something better for the next generation. Planting trees should not be seen as a one-day ! It is something each of us should take part in, wherever we are. Because when we plant a tree, we are growing hope, protecting life, and investing in our future. #Umuganda #PlantATree

Tesla autonomy has become so advanced that it behaves in an incredibly human-like way. When faced with being stuck in a right-hand turn-only lane when Robotaxi needs to go straight, it attempts to negotiate with a human, as in this video. In this case, I caught the man in the car next to us visibly shaking his head “no”—that happens when people will not let another person, or in this case a robot, into the lane where they need to go. So Robotaxi made the right decision and continued on, going around the block and then succeeding the next time around.

Back in Brecksville living with my brother in a house we both bought, we had an apple tree in the backyard that we were too busy to keep up on. I admit I was pulling long hours at the insurance company and he was gone on developers trips all the time. The fruit and the leaves would fall and sometimes land in the neighbors driveway. For the longest time they never said anything about it, they even picked our apples and ate them, I never said anything about that because to be honest I never cared. One day I was on a phone call with a client and I was walking to the backyard and saw a few half eaten apples and apple cores littering the patio area by my garage. I assumed the neighbor ate it and threw it over. As the days passed I saw more and more apples scattered all over my yard. They even but a big branch of my tree off that was beginning to go over the fence. One day while in the garage I saw firsthand they were throwing apples over the fence. I walked by the fence and saw they were trying to spray something around my tree. The tree is literally right next to the fence, it almost touched it. A few days later the leaves looked burnt and even some of the grass by the tree was dying as well. I suspected they were trying to spray some sort of plant killer to kill my tree. I then walked over to them and asked what was going on, they claimed their daughter was visiting and one of the apples fell and dented her car, and they wanted me to address my fruit falling onto their property. The weird thing about the whole thing is I never heard anything about this nor did they ever ask me to pay for the damages. My friends and I ended up getting a latter and trimming most of the branches close to the fence. I did see them reach over on occasion to steal apples but I never really had an issue with them from that point on. I also never offered to pay for the damage because I wasn’t convinced it even happened, I would think if it did I would have heard about it when it happened.

While mowing the lawn around a tree, this days-old fawn I didn't see jumped up and fled when I got too close. It could barely walk, let alone run, and it stopped on the side of a road out in the open sun and laid down. That's not a very safe place for a fawn. So I carried it to a nearby tree away from the road with good cover at the base, in a spot where all the adult deer pass by so it should see it's mom when she returns. This thing is so darn cute it hurts.

What happens when you change the hand mid-task? We tested this by modifying the hands mid-rollout and letting the same model keep running. It perceives the new tool, and finds a new trajectory and contact strategy to complete the task. This works because training on mixed data forces the model to condition its behavior on the hand in front of it. This brings it closer to a general understanding of how shapes and contact surfaces interact with the physical world – and which actuation strategy should follow.

Hey y’all. I have a 15-foot pecan tree we planted back in 2012 so it's about 14 years old now. It has never produced a single pecan. We literally just discovered an old, mature pecan tree way at the back of our property. It's covered in vines, including what looks like wild muscadine grapes, and sits right on the property line. We never go back there, so we had no idea it was even there. I have no clue if it actually produces nuts. The old tree is roughly 300 feet, about 100 yards, from the young one. Is that close enough for them to cross pollinate each other? Or should I go ahead and cut the top out of the young tree around 5–6 feet up and graft a branch from the old one? I will learn on the you tubes how do wrap it I guess. Obviously the old tree hasn't helped the young one produce anything yet. Both seem healthy otherwise. Any experienced pecan growers out there? What would you do? Help….
