Quick action and coordination between the Assam Forest Department and Railways helped save precious elephant lives from a potential collision with a Rajdhani Express on the railway tracks in Nagaon today. Forest staff alerted the Railways, and the loco-pilot, working with the Railway Control Room, halted the Rajdhani Express, allowing the large herd to cross safely.

The death toll in the overnight stampede at the #NewDelhi Railway Station climbed to 18 on Sunday, with a senior railway official saying the incident occurred after some passengers slipped and fell on others while coming down from a footover bridge. #Railways on Sunday announced a compensation of ₹10 lakh each for the next of kin of those killed in the stampede at the New Delhi Railway Station. Those seriously injured will get ₹2.5 lakh and those with minor injuries ₹1 lakh, the railway said. 🎥 PTI

A Proud Moment for SBI At a prestigious ceremony held at Rail Bhawan, New Delhi, on 1st September 2025, State Bank of India and Indian Railways signed an MoU for the SBI's curated Railway Salary Package for the employees of Indian Railways. The event was graced by: Hon’ble Minister of Railways, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw Chairman & CEO, Railway Board, Shri Satish Kumar Chairman, SBI, Shri C.S. Setty And other senior dignitaries from Indian Railways and SBI. Through this collaboration, SBI will extend curated salary package to 12.6 lakh Railway employees, acknowledging their invaluable contribution as the backbone of India’s lifeline. On the occasion, SBI Chairman Shri C.S. Setty, also presented a cheque of ₹11.40 crore towards accidental claims to Chairman & CEO, Railway Board, Shri Satish Kumar for the families of deceased Railway employees, reaffirming SBI’s commitment to standing with them in times of need. As part of the Railway Salary Package, Indian Railways employees will be covered under Personal Accidental Insurance and Air Accidental Insurance, ensuring enhanced financial security for them and their families. This will be in addition to a host of other features including life style privileges for them and their family members. VIDEO | Kolkata: Reacting to the Murshidabad railway crossing accident, TMC leader Mahua Moitra says, "An incident took place today in Govindapur, Murshidabad, where the railway gate was not lowered when a school van carrying five children was crossing. The children have died. It is a very sad incident. The Railway Ministry must clamp down on this system because anything that depends on human intervention, where a person is responsible for closing a gate, is prone to human error. It is high time we moved to a fully automated system, and I would urge the Railway Minister to treat this as a top priority. Unfortunately, safety issues in India continue to receive very low priority. Even in 2026, we are witnessing deaths like these, where a vehicle crosses a railway track and children lose their lives. We have also seen the KAVACH system. It is supposed to cover the entire railway network, but that has still not happened. While a high-speed railway line worth Rs 1.30 lakh crore has been built between Mumbai and Ahmedabad, the cost of covering the entire Indian Railways network with KAVACH is around Rs 63,000 crore. Yet that has not been completed. We have no objection to high-speed railways, but we believe the Railways' priority should be safety measures, both on the tracks and in situations like this."

This is the Lichchavi Express pantry car, where police personnel and local staff forcibly occupy railway seats meant for pantry operations. The pantry manager is harassed and helpless, yet these people refuse to vacate the space and sit there as if it’s their personal property. Let’s be blunt: Does the government not pay them a salary? Why this obsession with grabbing railway seats for free? They take salary from taxpayers, misuse government railway property, and show zero respect for rules. Indian Railways must take strict, visible action. Rules that don’t apply to everyone are not rules at all. Ministry of Railways

The bridge was located near the village of Rozdolne in occupied Crimea.
