This is why improving flexibility isn’t always about stretching harder. Sometimes it’s about activating the right muscles at the right time.

I get the feeling she's trying to make us feel bad as she's explaining why we couldn't do what she does

Am I the only one who feels like she is not only teaching people flexibility but also make us feel bad at the same time?

The most annoying clip I've ever watched. Supercilious, stuck up and over the top

So you are turning off our safety mechanisms that make us springy and responsive… neat, I’d rather be stiff and be able to run jump cut

Crazy how often “tightness” is really just poor activation. When the right muscles switch on, the range shows up without forcing anything. Smart training > stretching yourself into a pretzel.

this makes sense. our bodies carry so much tension - decades worth. did anyone try this and notice a difference? i tried it - twice - and didn't notice anything releasing or relaxing.

BS. Only a specific genetic endowment provides hamstrings long enough to do that

Very nice. Big words for a little girl. I want to share this with my 14 yo daughter who needs anatomy & biology lessons. Great job on explaining the science.

I would love to be able to afford her as my trainer, after my Lumbar arthrodesis I'm in limbo about what to do and not to do in order to improve my core and flexibility.

This stupidity is precisely the reason so many men wreck their backs doing yoga. This is so wrong it's almost criminal. You should study the Stuart McGill assessment. This has nothing to do with nerves, it's simple mechanics and geometry, many people have bone structure that just will not allow their legs to do that. It's bone on bone, there is no way to do it, and the lower back ends up taking the load. I worked at it for years until one day i got the McGill assessment and I stopped being in pain after more than ten years on continuous pain because of this (including a surgery, caused by mechanical damage during janusirsasana B). Stuart McGill saved my life. If you see flexible yoga people it's not because yoga makes you flexible or that you need to train your brain, it's because the people without compatible hips self select out of yoga. Yoga is for dancers. Yoga will wreck your body a little bit every day and you won't know it until you hit 50. Don't do yoga.
