This is either really poorly edited or a bait-and-switch quotation of the early fathers. Strangely, you’re claiming St Irenaeus taught something by citing a St Clement of Rome quote? Also, nothing St Clement of Rome cited here in Chapter 7 refers to scripture or divinely inspired writing. “Canon” in Greek means “rule”, or “standard”. This is pretty embarrassing if you didn’t know this. On the contrary, Clement is clear as to “what” these people should be submitting to. (Hint: it’s not scripture)
