This just in: exciting news as we continue to #RaiseTheBar for patients facing unmet needs in mental health. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (U.S. FDA) has granted Breakthrough Therapy designation to DT120 ODT for the treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD), building on our initial designation in generalized...

The fact that we’re in 2026, we have a catastrophic mental health epidemic and not 1 substancial thing has been done about this crisis is…stunning. Countless therapies held up in clinical trials while people with disabilities continue to get nothing but endlessly watch the dysfunctional, backwards behaviors of people online flourish. We can do better as a country than providing people with absolutely zero.

@FDA Mmm FDA Breakthrough Therapy designation ≠ approval. DT120 ODT c interesting MDD signal, but psychedelic trials have a built-in problem: everyone pretends assignment is blinded while the drug is announcing itself in neon. Promising? Yes. Practice-changing? Not yet.

A seismic shift is underway in psychiatry, moving beyond talk therapy and pharmaceuticals to target the very foundation of mental health: metabolic function. Leading this revolution are pioneers like Dr. Christopher Palmer of Harvard Psychiatry. For over two decades, he has focused on the most challenging cases—patients resistant to psychotropic medications. His groundbreaking protocol is strikingly simple, yet profoundly effective: a ketogenic diet. By placing patients into ketosis through a diet of meat and low-starch vegetables, Dr. Palmer has documented the reversal of conditions once deemed lifelong, including: • Major Depression • Anxiety Disorders • Bipolar Disorder • And in rare cases, even Schizophrenia The mechanism? While the official explanation points to improved mitochondrial health, a compelling alternative theory suggests that removing carbohydrates strengthens the immune system. This allows the body to finally subdue chronic, undiagnosed infections that may be driving neurological dysfunction. By halting the constant processing of sugars, the body can redirect its resources toward regeneration and fighting these underlying inflammatory and infectious threats. This isn't just a dietary trend; it's a paradigm shift. It reframes "mental illness" as a potential symptom of metabolic and immune system dysregulation. The work of Dr. Palmer, alongside researchers like Georgia Ede and Stanford's Annelise Barron, is offering not just management, but the possibility of genuine recovery. The future of mental health treatment may not be in a pill bottle, but on our plates.

We are extremely proud to announce the launch of a mental health awareness public service announcement featuring Cleveland Guardians assistant athletic trainer Jeff Desjardins, developed in collaboration with MLB and the U.S. Department of Labor Office of Disability Employment Policy. The campaign aims to raise awareness about the importance of mental health and provide resources to those in need, whether they work in baseball or any type of workplace. “At the Department of Labor, we want all workers to feel supported, wherever they work—whether it’s a stadium, office, factory or any other environment,” said Assistant Secretary of Labor for Disability Employment Policy Taryn Williams. “This is a goal we share with PBATS, and we’re pleased to partner with them to shine a light on this important issue and educate America’s employers about best practices for meeting employees’ mental health needs.” “MLB proudly supports PBATS and the work they are doing to highlight the importance of mental health. MLB athletes face unique and varied demands, and PBATS members have always provided excellent, holistic care essential to the minds and bodies of our players,” said Jon Coyles, MLB’s Vice President of Drug, Health and Safety. “Education, awareness and de-stigmatizing mental health treatment are foundational to fostering a safe and productive environment for our athletes, and PBATS does an excellent job of making this a priority for players and fans alike.” For more resources, please visit: The Players’ Tribune AskEARN.org Mental Health America MLBNetworkPR MLB_PR
