This really disappoints me. I’m a self-proclaimed #Oscar historian & a die harder lover of cinema. Few actors ever in the last 100 years have done more for this art form than Leo. And he literally deserves to win the award- it’s not some sympathy nod. I just don’t...

Leonardo DiCaprio’s performance as Howard Hughes in The Aviator would be the single biggest achievement for 99% of actors who have ever walked the face of this planet. For Leo, it’s just one of a long list of Earth-shattering performances. DiCaprio gives mind, body & soul to Hughes. He changes his voice, how he walks, how he moves- everything in order to get closer to Hughes. He holds down nearly every moment of a 3 hour film. For my money, Leo is better in this movie than he is in The Wolf of Wall Street. I’m starting to really, really get excited about the fact that a new Leo-Scorsese film is not far off in the distance.

Kramer vs. Kramer won the Oscar for Best Picture over Apocalypse Now in 1980. I don’t think the The Academy got this right- I think Apocalypse Now needed to win this award for so many reasons. But I’m not sure I’ve ever seen better on-screen acting than in this film. Have you?

Sissy Spacek is quite literally one of the greatest actors in film history & I’m not sure enough people realize that. She’s a 6 x Oscar nominee and owns the Oscar for Best Actress. She’s also starred in some of the best films of the last 50 years. I’m glad she’s still acting.

Jared Leto’s rendition of The Joker failed to meet the standard set by Jack Nicholson & Heath Ledger. Leto was given this role in large part because he won an Oscar just a few years prior. But he just didn’t live up to expectations & I don’t really enjoy this performance.

Jonah Hill has only starred in two films this decade & I’m not totally sure why he hasn’t done more. The 2 x Oscar nominee is only 41 & can do both comedy and drama extremely well. He’s had some personal drama the last few years, but I’d love to see Jonah back in action again.

I have received a couple of prestigious awards in my life, but I don’t think I’ve ever been more honored than I was to receive the ADAPT Community Partnership award on Monday night. (I don’t want them to take it away, so don’t tell them I’m actually terrible.) In all seriousness, I got to dress up and make a speech and blush, but this award really belongs to all of you for rolling up your sleeves with me to try to do a little bit of good. Thank you, ADAPT, and thank you all. P.S. Thank you to Jim, Laura, Liz, Jenna, Elise, Selina, and the whole ADAPT team for everything — I’m grateful to be associated with such amazing people doing this important work. P.P.S. I also got a second award this week, in the form of the sweetest note that my fiancée posted after the event...

that’ll do it Deer Diaries 2024. this season kicked me down hard. I had a few personal struggles that caused me to not spend as much time in the woods as possible, during the best time of the year for rut activity. I missed alot of chances, and missed a few deer. I spent a lot of time preparing for this season, and traveled quite a bit. however, I know that you win some years in life, and you lose some years. Thank God that I get to experience one of his greatest creations in this capacity. I will never be more at peace anywhere else than where I am when i’m standing in the woods. Thank God for every person who hunted with me this year. Although most of it was spent in solitude, nothing brings me more joy than sharing something I love with people that I love. Now then, get your equipment—your quiver and bow—and go out to the open country to hunt some wild game for me. Genesis 27:3
