In the UK, we decided to start banning guns after WW2. I guess we'd seen so much death. Everyone came back from war with guns and we wanted to feel safe. Not sure. It happened over decades. Some were banned initially. Some not until the 90s. We still have some.

This is so spot on. I lost a brother to death by suicide with a gun he never should have been able to get. 12 years of grief and it is still in my brain everyday. This country is maddening.
