France taxes soft drinks based on how much sugar they contain. More sugar means higher tax. As a result, many beverage companies reduced the sugar in their drinks. That's why the same soft drink sold in France often contains much less sugar than the one sold in India. These companies already know how to make lower-sugar products. So why don't they do the same in India? I strongly believe India should also implement a soda tax! Huge win! Nestle has finally launched a Cerelac with no refined sugar. For many years Nestle used to surprisingly put “added sugar” in their Cerelac in India, but no added sugar in Cerelac in Europe. I have repeatedly spoken against this for the past 1 year in many of my videos and in several news channels as well. Children below 2 years should NOT have any form of added sugar according to US department of Health because if babies have added sugar, it causes obesity, diabetes and tooth decay in the long run. I’m happy to see Nestle making this change, because the value of an Indian baby's life is no lesser than any foreign baby. Let us all unite in this fight against misleading labels and ensure that every company has no option but to improve their products!

CERELAC! We are a generation of humans addicted to sugar, and many of us get our first dose of added sugar as a baby. It is no surprise that babies love cerelac, since it contains added sugar! Added sugar should be avoided given to babies below 2 years, since the foods we eat in the first 1000 days of our life shapes our long-term taste buds. If you give a baby added sugar, chances are they will crave sugar once they grow older as well! Added sugar given to babies also causes tooth decay and contributes to obesity. I collaborated with Paediatrician, Dr. Rastogi, to create a home-made cerelac recipe, which does not have any sugars, preservatives, or artificial flavours! Instead of giving your babies market-bought cerelac, you can give your baby home-made cerelac! Share with any young parent!

We all know excess sugar is harmful, but there is one ingredient which Indians consume daily which is even worse than sugar! . . . Maltodextrin. The glycemic Index (GI) for table sugar is 65 whereas maltodextrin is 110. The glycemic index (GI) measures how fast a particular food/drink spikes your blood sugar. So the higher the glycemic index, the bigger the blood sugar spike. The more shocking part is that maltodextrin isn’t technically counted as “added sugar” according to FSSAI. Many Indian packaged foods take advantage of this and claim to be “no added sugar” but they have maltodextrin in it. In fact, even baby products like Nestle Cerelac have maltodextrin. Maltodextrin is present in many ultra-processed foods (UPFs) and a diet high in ultra-processed foods is linked to weight-gain, insulin resistance, and type 2 diabetes. Tariffs in this situation, are not long-term yet. What Trump is trying to do is to reset the tariff schedules that were set in place after the second World War in every single country, not just Canada, not just Mexico, but Germany and England and France and Switzerland and India. So, it's very simple. Let's say we make sugar, as we do, and India makes sugar. And they put 110% tariff on our sugar going to India. Why don't we just reciprocate?

If I handed you a spoon with that much sugar, you wouldn’t eat it... but you’ll drink it in 5 minutes. ❌ The average soda? 38 grams of sugar. ❌ Some “sports” or energy drinks? 40+ grams. “Sprite bujhaye pyaas, baaki all bakwaas” is the most bakwaas tagline I’ve ever seen. According to various studies, soft drinks actually dehydrate you, so Sprite claiming it hydrates you is completely scientifically inaccurate. I’m rewriting this tagline as “Chaas Bujhaaye Pyaas, Baaki All Soft Drinks Bakwaas.” Compared to Sprite, which has 9 teaspoons of sugar and no protein, chaas has 0 grams of sugar and around 4g protein in 300mL. Plus, since chaas also contains vitamin B12 and D. Most of India is deficient in protein, Vitamin B12 and D, so chaas can be a helpful step in reducing these gaps. I’ve been doing several chaas donations to the poor in various cities in India to promote chaas as a replacement of soft drinks. I am trying to ensure that Chaas drives take place in every city of India on a weekly basis. I would love if you join me or host a drive in your city. If at every school board meeting Democrats are showing up at more than a 2-1 ratio to Republicans, we will see more boys in girls sports.
