This terrifying spin happened only seconds after this Bell 206L-3 lifted off from a rooftop helipad in Medellín, Colombia. Six people were inside the helicopter as it spun violently just seconds after takeoff, slammed into the building and ended up suspended from a structure. From the footage, it looks...

One of the benefits of flying a helicopter is if there’s an issue, you can “land and live” as they say almost anywhere. There are a few things a few things you don’t mess around with if they happen in flight, unusual vibrations such as this, fire in flight, and anything related to the main rotor transmission such as high temperatures/low pressure. Audio via ATC

I’m no pilot but I do know a few choppers…. This looks like a direct line for the plane to me, how could the helicopter not see the plane…🤔 And why were there stories about the crash online hours before it happened? WTF is going on

F-15 Engine Fails at Full Power✈️ Watch the moment this F-15 aborts its takeoff after what appears to be a serious engine malfunction. As the F-15 accelerates, the left engine suddenly erupts in flames, indicating what appears to be a serious engine malfunction. Within seconds, the pilot rejects the takeoff and deploys the speed brakes to increase aerodynamic Drag as maximum wheel braking brings the jet to a stop. The pilot's Quick decision prevented a far more dangerous situation from unfolding.

The light Russian helicopter Mi-34M1 with a VK-650V engine has made its first flight as part of the flight test program, according to the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade. Equipped with a new engine, the helicopter has received modern onboard systems of Russian production. "The main purpose of this machine is passenger transportation, monitoring, flight training, and aviation sports," said Sergey Chemezov, the CEO of the Rostec State Corporation. The Mi-34M1 will be able to replace old Soviet-made helicopters, as well as foreign light helicopters from companies such as Bell and Airbus. - AN

😓 Air India 🇮🇳 Flight AI171 with fully loaded Boeing 787-7 Dreamliner fatal accident: I‘m an airline pilot with >15‘000h of experience and a physics institute: My brief PRELIMINARY analysis of the visible facts from the video of the takeoff: * The flaps are only slightly extended, presumably to position 1 instead of 5. * The landing gear is still extended, which should have been retracted at this altitude and causes additional drag. * The aircraft is at a high angle of attack, which confirms the insufficient flap setting. * From the video and witness accounts, only low engine noise is audible. * Neither smoke nor fire is visible. * An engine failure is less likely. The most probable cause is presumably a human factor, an incorrectly chosen, insufficient flap setting for takeoff, and consequently an inadequately selected thrust. In this context, the correlated speeds were too low because they were calculated for a larger flap setting or a lighter aircraft. As a result, the aircraft took off with insufficient speed and intentionally but falsely derated thrust, was therefore on the unstable side, and rapidly lost more speed and altitude due to the additional failure to retract the landing gear in a timely manner, leading to a subsequent stall at low altitude and crash. For the experts: the aircraft got onto the wrong side of the speed vs drag curve and maneuvered itself into a corner from where there is no escape. Another possible cause could also have been an incorrect input of a wrong takeoff weight into the Flight Management System, resulting in too low thrust and too low speeds. The pilots got startled after takeoff, couldn’t wrap their head around what went wrong and incorrectly prioritized making an emergency call instead of flying the aircraft first, manually increasing thrust immediately to maximum, and retracting the landing gear. In summary of this very early and preliminary assessment (your confidence level should be as low as mine): The most probable cause is human error 😓 - as most of the time these days. Not because the pilots got worse (although that effect can be observed as well with prioritization of diversity over competence) - but because technology got so much better.

So this is a weird one. I was looking at flight radar cause they just decided to drop like infinite trails in a row and I noticed a helicopter with strange markings I have never seen in the the middle of deep Maine woods. North of Jackman(for reference on sat imagery) I zoom into this little tiny helicopter pad in the middle of nowhere, literally, I’ve been up there and there’s nothing. Right next to the helicopter pad is a strange facility that looks a lot like it has a bunch of radar. While I’m screen recording the helicopter disappears, I go back to check the history to get a screenshot of the information, and it’s been erased. 🤔🤔🤔 so just for poops and giggles I checked the satellite imagery from that area to see if there’s any strange affects happening in cloud structure, and weirdly enough, that location seems to be the center of some very frequency type cloud structures, and there’s a couple weird anomaly lines that pop up.

A Bell 407 collided with a open hangar door while trying to depart a airport hangar alleyway in Utah. I’ve seen several similar accidents happen over the years and this accident was easily preventable. For all the helicopter pilots out there, please do not takeoff from a small hangar alley like this and at a bare minimum close the hangar door. This 407 produces hurricane force winds with its rotor wash and could have easily forced FOD out of the hangar and into the aircraft. This aircraft was on a dolly with a tug and it would have probably taken the pilot an extra 5 minutes to find a more open and suitable location to depart from. You can also produce your own mechanical turbulence from the rotor wash hitting buildings and going back into your rotors make your hover less stable. Thankfully the only occupant onboard was the pilot and they were able to walk away with non-life threatening injures according to news reports. I also highly encourage unhooking any tow equipment for the dolly and moving it out of the way before taking off. So many times it just comes down to simple laziness and complacency. PS. Those are some gorgeous looking hangars! 🎥 KSL

FSD appears to have trouble detecting barrier arm from a distance. It reacted only at the last second at high speed, attempted to move over, and ended up striking it. This looks like a supervision failure as much as an FSD failure.

In January 2020, a medical helicopter transporting a donor heart crashed on the rooftop helipad of Keck Hospital at USC during its landing. The impact happened directly above operating rooms and intensive care units, just as staff were preparing for a critical transplant. With donor hearts only viable for a short period outside the body, time was of the essence. Hospital staff immediately activated emergency protocols upon realizing a helicopter had crashed above them. Despite the tragedy of the pilot losing his life, first responders were able to retrieve the donor heart from the wreckage and bring it safely inside, allowing the transplant to move forward. The crash led to temporary disruptions in the hospital as the rooftop helipad was closed for structural assessments and federal officials carried out their investigation. Ultimately, while the pilot did not survive, the donor heart was successfully delivered and used in the life-saving procedure.

UPDATE ON THE LA HELICOPTER CRASH It comes down level and much too fast. When the engine quits, a pilot uses autorotation, letting the air keep the blades spinning so he can set it down. That takes altitude, and this helicopter was under 1,000 feet above the ground. Six days earlier, the FAA warned that an engine flange installed backwards on Airbus AS350s could cut the power going from the engine to the rotor. That bulletin covers more than 4,000 helicopters built before 2023. The NTSB says a warning siren can be heard on the station's own video seconds before the fall, and the sound is consistent with the engine stalling. NOW EVERYONE KNOWS

Swiss Airlines flight attendant dies after being in intensive care following emergency landing of LX1885 on 23 December. During the flight from Bucharest to Zurich with 74 passengers, there were engine problems and smoke in the cockpit and cabin. The aircraft landed at Graz and stopped on the runway where an evacuation was carried out. A rescue helicopter took the flight attendant under resuscitation on board and flew him to a hospital. There has been no information so far about the exact cause of the problems during the flight. Based on the initial findings, a technical defect in one of the engines was the probable cause, Swiss merely stated. The public prosecutor's office in Graz has opened an investigation into possible negligent bodily injury.

Thank you, Jesus. 🙏 A car barreled through a red light right in front of us, a full 11 seconds after it had turned red. Crashed high speed into multiple other cars. Just seconds difference and they would have likely hit my wife & I traveling in our Cybertruck. Was able to give police officers detailed multi-angle footage from our Tesla cameras, right there at the scene… and they were immediately able to understand what had happened. Tesla camera footage made the difference real-time. Watch about 13 seconds into the first video for perspective of the speed!

🚨 Drones + Helicopters = Dangerous and Illegal 🚨 Yesterday around 3:40 p.m., a drone was filmed flying directly above a LifeFlight helicopter as it landed at Primary Children’s Hospital to transport a critically ill child. Because the drone was spotted, all air operations had to stop until the area was cleared — causing a completely preventable delay in life-saving care. Flying a drone near emergency helicopters is extremely dangerous and illegal. A collision could be catastrophic, damaging rotor blades and putting patients, flight crews, and people on the ground at risk. Those responsible will be prosecuted and could face stiff fines or jail time. ⚠️ What you need to know: 🚁 Drones near hospitals, helipads, wildfires, or emergency scenes force helicopters to ground, stopping critical missions 💥 Drone–helicopter collisions have happened and can be deadly ⚖️ Flying a drone near aircraft is a federal offense, not just a citation 📏 Drones should not be flown within ¾ mile (1.4 km) of a helipad without FAA approval ⛔ If you see or hear a helicopter, land your drone immediately and move away
