This VAR decision in Ligue 1 has been broadcast with total transparency and clarity over the decision making process for those watching. It’s a real breath of fresh air compared to the radio silence you get in the English game.

Makes so much more sense, and increases respect for the process. But they don't do this for every Ligue 1 match do they?

To give you the full context, it was a just an experiment run by the French League. The aim is to make: 1) all the actors on the pitch accountable of their behaviour/ speechs. Players were accusing referees to talk badly and vice versa. 2) pacify relationships between supporters by explaining what’s going on during VAR but not only… actually the most interesting part is during the game ; it allows viewers to understand a bit more referee’s philosophy within the context of a game, because we all know it can differ from one game to an another, from one referee to another. This is definitely not a revolutionary idea as it is stolen from Rugby. I’m just wondering is why IFAB (Intenational Football Assiciation Board), predominately British, Scottish, Welsh and North Irish, do not allow it. It took French League years to implement this experiment ... On a more personal note, I do agree with you and find this experiment holistically very positive.

There is a clear and obvious reason that they have not implemented transparency in England like they said they would before last season… but most will call it a ‘conspiracy theory’ and dismiss people that call PGMOL and the refs corrupt (at best) 🙃

That’s the one thing they don’t want in this country mate. Transparency. Got to keep the status quo at the top.

How many times do we need to see this and remember that they DO THIS IN RUGBY for god sake. I love football but the arrogance of the lawmakers to be insistent to try and do it their own way when there’s literally other sports that get it spot on. Drives me insane
