Whistle Drill The Whistle Drill is a great drill that simulates the chaos that takes place during transition defense. Transition defense is basically a scramble situation. Players should not worry about finding "their man" during transition. They should be worried about taking away the lane and easy baskets, stopping the ball, and identifying where the shooters are located. The teams that... -Communicate -Anticipate -Hustle ....will be most successful in transition defense. The Whistle Drill requires players to do all 3 of these things and therefore is a perfect drill to prepare your teams to successfully navigate the chaos of transition defense. 4 DAY SHOOTING RESET: Day 1 This 4 day reset aims to help players slow down and reinforce their shot. It’s really helpful for Great Shooters that love to be detailed, but also if you aren’t a great shooter to help you build your foundation. Day 1 is about finding our stance (load position) and feeling the sequencing of our shot. The Load Position is the foundation of our shot. A players understanding and feel for their stance is HUGE. Drill 1: Load Position Shooting - Find your stance and start in Load Position, take a breath, lift and shoot with normal pace. We look for straight lift and high follow through on this. Drill 2: 1 Foot Drops - this works on finding our base on the drop, and timing in to lift / shot. Drill 3: 1 Foot Drops w/ Dribble- Add in dribble to work on finding base, ball transfer to shooting hand, timing for shooting off the dribble. SCORING: ONLY COUNT CLEAN MAKES (Swish or hit rim once). For each drill, make 10 from 15’ and 10 from 3. Change Distance and Angle for each shot for variability.

🏒 Start Practice with 12 Player Game! 🚨 The Buffalo Sabres started Day 2 of their Dev Camp with a fun & competitive 12 person small area game. A great way to get the whole team engaged early in practice. ➡️ The game was 3 v 3 in the middle and each team had 3 bumper players in their offensive zone, essentially making it a 6 v 3 when having possession. Bumper players could pass, shoot, and defend but could not enter the playing area. ♻️ After a rep, the bumper players rotated to the middle to play 3 v 3, and the players that were playing the 3 v 3 game in the middle rotated out. 🙌 Thank you to the Buffalo Sabres for having dev camp open to the public to let coaches, players, and fans learn.

The offense has to make 10 passes in a row to win the game. Coaches can change the space the players operate in, adjust the number of players in the game, and even combine their principles of play into it. For example, you could apply “zero-second decisions,” where players must pass immediately upon catching it, or it’s a turnover.
