I’ve always said they worship Trump because he channels their hatred of other people for them. We all know it is really themselves that they hate but they don’t know it and it doesn’t do any good to tell them.

Some of my family in a conservative area seem like decent folk, go to church, white middle-class conservatives. Didn't vote for Obama because they were conservative. But that curdled into something else over time. A covert racist hatred of Obama, DEI, "others." Toxic resentment.

And he picked up about 30% of the USA voting population. It's a sad indictment on the education and morality of the country.
