First responders have also been operating in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions. Overall, last night the Russians launched more than 170 drones against Ukraine, at least half of them “shaheds.” And throughout this entire week, the Russians launched nearly 1,000 attack drones, almost 980 guided aerial bombs, and 36 missiles of various types against our people. Almost every day, lives in Ukraine are under threat because of Russian attacks and strikes using various types of weapons against our people. This week alone, Russia launched more than 1,070 guided aerial bombs, nearly 1,000 attack drones, and six missiles against Ukraine. Everything agreed with our partners must be accelerated as much as possible. Every missile for air defense systems that is currently held in storage by partners can truly save lives. Stability and predictability of assistance to Ukraine are what can really push Moscow toward diplomacy. We count on continued defense assistance and support for the prepared documents on security guarantees by the United States, Europe, and partners within the Coalition of the Willing. Naturally, all details should not be made public. But these are the systems capable of intercepting everything. We will protect regions. Thanks to Ukraine's Defense Forces and our efforts, we were able to instill more confidence in the Vochansk direction. But Russian shelling continues, and threats remain. Today, the head of the Vovchansk local administration was wounded. We also continue to counter Russian attacks in other border areas of the Kharkiv region. There should be more of our successes in repelling Russian attacks and destroying occupiers. Russia tries to expand the war while consistently making empty statements about peace. We must use all available means to force Russia to make a real and just peace. Our defense against Russian assaults and strikes is critical in this regard. We also continue to work closely with partners to provide better basic protection to our regions, particularly Kharkiv, Donetsk, and Sumy. This includes additional air defense systems and long-range weapons. After returning to Kyiv from Kharkiv, I spoke with Poland's Prime Minister Donald Tusk. We discussed our defense needs, particularly "Patriot" air defense systems, which have the potential to significantly change the situation in the Kharkiv region. We also talked about Russian terror strikes on our regions in the west of Ukraine, as well as the threat that the attacks on our gas infrastructure pose not only to Ukraine, but also to our neighbors and all of Europe. We must all work together to counter this threat. Today, I would also like to thank Denmark for the new $750 million military aid package, which will strengthen our air defense and artillery. We are also working with Germany on an additional IRIS-T, another powerful air defense system, as well as missiles for our existing systems. German leadership is tangible, and thanks to it, we will be able to save thousands of lives and provide Ukraine with a stronger defense against Russian terror. We will continue to work with all partners who can help in the same way. This week alone, I met with the presidents of Lithuania, Czechia, Romania, Poland, Hungary, Switzerland, and Latvia. We also concluded a bilateral security agreement with Latvia. This week, I also spoke with the prime ministers of the Netherlands, Greece, Portugal, and Ireland. Today, I had a call with the German Chancellor. We will make every effort to achieve even greater results in the coming weeks. Air defense and the frontline are two of the most important topics discussed during every call and meeting. We are working to increase the capabilities of our Defense Forces and defense industry.

Russian air strikes this morning were heinous, with the deliberate goal of causing structural damage to society’s life rather than military damage to our ability to defend ourselves. This is terror, by definition, without any disguises. The strikes harmed over thirty people across the country. As of now, five people have been reported killed. My condolences to their close ones. A significant part of our energy system is damaged. Air defense is the top priority right now. Our people here in Ukraine are responsible for the physical protection of facilities and their recovery following strikes. However, true and comprehensive protection from Russian missiles and "Shahed" drones is only possible with sufficient political will on the part of our partners. We work on it every day. Every day, we persuade partners of the importance and, more importantly, the feasibility of full protection of Ukrainian skies. Russian terror is only possible because we do not have enough modern air defense systems. Frankly, because our partners lack the political will to provide them. They all know exactly what is required and who can make life-saving decisions.

We are looking for ways to increase Kharkiv's ability to protect the sky. This is a task for both our military and diplomats, who are in charge of international communication and must maintain daily dialogue with partners. Ukraine clearly lacks sufficient air defense systems, and this is evident to all of our partners. The world must finally feel the pain caused by Russian terrorists in Kharkiv, Kupyansk, Donetsk region towns, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy region, and many other Ukrainian communities. There are air defense systems around the world that can help. Only political will is required to transfer them to Ukraine. I am grateful to the countries that have already helped. Russia will not stop on its own. The world must force it to end this brutal and unprovoked aggression. Strengthening our defense is absolutely necessary. We need better protection – air defense systems, long-range weapons, and sanctions pressure. All of this helps save lives here in Ukraine. I thank everyone around the world who understands the importance of this, continues to believe in our country and supports us.

I am deeply grateful to all our partners who support us with air defense systems and missiles. This is a truly global effort. Every time Russia carries out such attacks, it underscores how critical it is that partners don’t leave systems like Patriot and others sitting idle in warehouses, but instead provide them to those who know how to protect lives and urgently need them. We still haven’t received all the necessary systems from our allies—but we continue to work toward that goal. Once these systems are in place, our ability to repel attacks will be much stronger. One more thing: The plan for strengthening Ukraine is the Victory Plan that I presented to our partners. One of its key elements is providing our army with long-range capabilities. There’s been much said in the media today that we have received approval to take relative actions. But strikes are not carried out with words. These things are not announced. The missiles will speak for themselves.

Over this past week, Russia used around 2,200 attack drones against Ukraine, more than 1,730 guided aerial bombs, and 106 missiles of various types, nearly half of them ballistic. Sumy, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Kharkiv, and Dnipro, as well as our border and frontline communities, are under fire almost every day. There was a massive strike on Kyiv that claimed the lives of 31 people and injured another 102, including four children. My condolences to their families and loved ones. Every day, we must protect lives from these attacks. We already have the capabilities to effectively shoot down more than 90% of drones, but, unfortunately, not all ballistic missiles are intercepted. And it is ballistic missiles that Moscow is now leaning on to continue its war. And every day, we are working to strengthen air defense for Ukraine: through PURL and through our bilateral contacts with countries that have not joined PURL but do have the missiles we so urgently need. We are also strengthening our air defense through joint work with Europeans on anti-ballistic capabilities. We need answers from our partners to our requests for air defense. Every package of interceptor missiles provides real protection for lives. I thank all leaders who are finding ways to help in this particular area.
