This weekend I shared a post voicing my concerns about the far left. The response has been overwhelming. Leaders in both parties called to tell me the same thing: this stuff has gone too far. To be clear: I'm a progressive Democrat. My whole life, I've wanted to see...

I'm tired of being told that, to be a progressive, I now must swear allegiance to crazy ideas. I'm a strong Democrat, with a winning bipartisan track record. I'm rooted in progressive ideals and policies: criminal justice reform, Green New Deal, Medicare for All, free education, clean air and water. These are ideas I have fought for my entire adult life. But some people in groups like the DSA are pushing an agenda FAR outside those ideals. Supporting Hamas is not progressive. "No police, no prisons, no borders" is not progressive. Celebrating the murder of Israeli civilians is not progressive. These ideas are REGRESSIVE. If there were no police or prisons, if anyone in your neighborhood could do whatever they wanted, while politicians cheered on terror groups — would that represent PROGRESS to you? No, that would be a step back. Those are REGRESSIVE ideas. On the other hand, if everybody could see a doctor when they got sick, get a good, free education and breathe clean air — would that represent progress? Yes. Those are PROGRESSIVE ideas. They are NOT the same thing. And the difference matters. Some defend the far left by claiming they only want Nordic-style social democracy. If that were true, I might applaud them. I want those policies, too! But what does universal healthcare have to do with Hamas? With abolishing all law enforcement? With erasing all borders? With treating every wealthy person as a villain? Ideas matter. And these are terrible ideas. Right now, extremists are trying to sneak backwards proposals into our party, hoping mainstream Democrats are too frustrated with MAGA and the Democratic Party establishment to notice. But we see you. Yes, we want our Democratic Party to be a big tent. But we don’t need "party poopers. So STOP pooping in the punch bowl — and telling us the turds are ice cubes. They aren't. And we are smart enough to know the difference. 💩

Hamas leadership has been living lavishly in Qatar while the people that they claim to represent in Gaza are suffering. They’ve been directing a war from the comfort of their five-star hotels for almost two years, refusing to release the 48 hostages that are still being held in Gaza. Today, Israeli officials announced that they took a targeted action against these Hamas leaders who have been terrorizing the region for years. This war in Gaza is brutal. It has to end. Palestinians are suffering, Israelis are suffering. The entire region is suffering. The people of Gaza, the Arab League, the US and Israel are all saying the same thing. Hamas must be removed from power. Inside Gaza, people are risking their lives to protest Hamas, and they’re being silenced, beaten, even killed on the streets. They know that Hamas is the reason Gaza is in ruin. They know that Hamas is the one who started the war, and Hamas is the reason that it hasn’t ended yet. And this has been Hamas’s plan all along, force Israel into a war it never wanted to fight, but has to win. Hamas spent years preparing the October 7th attack. They knew exactly what an urban war in a densely populated area would look like. They all went into hiding and left their people out to suffer. And these devastating consequences for the people of Gaza? That was a part of their strategy, to delegitimize Israel’s standing in the eyes of the world. They knew what they were doing, and Israel could not and still cannot allow these jihadists to live on its borders. No other nation would allow that. This is the linchpin of the entire conflict right now. Once Hamas is gone, the war ends, the suffering ends, and Gaza can finally rebuild. So today, Israel sent a message that there’s no safe place for terrorists anywhere on Earth, and we all need to stand together and say release the hostages, remove Hamas, end the war.

Hamas leader Khaled Mashal: “We do not accept the two state solution.” — January 22, 2024 “I would like to say two things about the two-state solution. First, we have nothing to do with the two-state solution. We reject this notion, because it means you would get a promise for a [Palestinian] state, yet you are required to recognize the legitimacy of the other state, which is the Zionist entity. This is unacceptable. We demand to be liberated, to get rid of the occupation, and to have our independence, and our state. [Israel] is my enemy. It is not my concern." “Obviously, the position of Hamas, and the position of the vast majority of the Palestinian people, especially following October 7, I believe that the dream and the hope for Palestine from the River to the Sea, and from the north to the south, has been renewed. This has also become a slogan chanted in the U.S., and in western capital cities, by the American and Western public.” “Hamas agreed to a completely independent (Palestinian) state, with the 1967 borders, with Jerusalem as its capital, with the Right of Return included without recognizing the legitimacy of the Zionist entity. This position was meant to facilitate Palestinian and Arab agreement at this stage, but without relinquishing any of our rights or any part of our land, and without recognizing Israel. Our vision remains unchanged. I believe that October 7 has enhanced this conviction, has narrowed the disagreements, and has turned the idea of liberating Palestine from the River to the Sea into a realistic idea that has already begun. It is not something merely to be expected or hoped for, It is part of the plan, part of the agenda, and we are standing on its threshold, Allah willing.” TRANSLATED BY MEMRI Source:

It’s really important for Americans to realize that this is a bigggg misconception that applies to all immigration, not just China. The people who come over the border, regardless of whether they’re Chinese, Indian, Mexican, Central American, generally are “not their best”. I use quotes because that’s something Trump said, “they don’t send their best”. And he is absolutely correct. There are exceptions, but the people who cross the border, tend to be criminals, people who can’t a get a job, the uneducated, etc. Why? The educated can get jobs in their home countries. Or can immigrate to the US legally (at least used to). If you have a criminal record in your home country, you don’t have one in the USA. If you screwed up and dropped out of high school, you can cut vegetables in the back of a restaurant. Law abiding citizens of foreign countries, no matter what you think about the greatness of America, are not thrilled to break the law and enter a country like this. This immigration for many if not most of these countries is economic. Most of these people are not coming for a better life. They are coming for the currency arbitrage. Or at least that used to be the case. From 2021 to 2024 border crossing immigrants were getting free housing and cash debit cards (look it up) in places like NYC. So that, again, brought another type of person, but, again, it was “not their best”. So, unless you’re in a country that is experiencing civil war, or maybe a total basket case, you mainly go to the US via the illegal border, not for a better life but for currency arbitrage or because you don’t have a better option in your home country which has made it tough for you to get a job for whatever reason. Okay, now let’s talk a bit more about China. For the Chinese that cross the border, life is way better in China. They speak the language. There is less crime. They’re surrounded by their family. They don’t need a car in most places. It’s the same culture and there friends are there. Life is pretty good in China, and because they’re going to work hard in the USA too, it’s probably better in China across every single socioeconomic quartile of society too (unless you have a criminal record or can’t get a job for whatever reason). So when Americans write things like “Chinese are dying to come to America”, there could be a political issue there eg on the wrong side of the communist party, but it’s mainly Americope, something we tell ourselves. It may have been true 10 years ago, but it’s no longer true. America needs to change that. We need to go back to when everyone wanted to come here, not just for money but for a better life. And this is something you should believe even if you don’t want immigration. If this keeps up, if we keep letting life decline, eventually the currency will too, and all these people who actually work quite hard will not only stop coming, but many will leave too. The replies are all going to basically be like (without saying it) “shut up white American. You don’t know” Yeah but I do know because I talk to people who people who look like me don’t talk to. In the below video (before I got good at short form videos) I had just been thrown out of a migrant detention center.

International VP of the United Steelworkers Roxanne Brown: I don’t know if I can curse on this podcast, but I’m a steelworker. One of the things I always say is, you can’t bullshit a steelworker. You can’t bullshit a union member, right? Union workers know the real and understand who is for them. When bullshit is in front of them, they’re able to identify what it is and see through that. That’s what I would really implore my brothers, sisters, and siblings across the labor movement: don’t be snowed by the bullshit. Pay attention, do your research on what Trump has done for workers versus what the Biden-Harris Administration has done for workers, and you will find there’s a huge gap. The Biden-Harris Administration has gone leaps and bounds—not just now but into the future—to secure a foundation for American working families and workers to propel into economic prosperity. What Trump has done is not that. He has told us from his own mouth that he doesn’t want us to be organized. He doesn’t support the right of workers to join unions. He does not support the right of workers to earn overtime or that extra bit of income to have more money in your paychecks to do the things you need to do for your family to survive. He has told you he does not support your retirement. He never supported the Butch Lewis Act. Over a million workers would still be facing a crisis and not being able to access their earned retirement if we still had a Trump administration. There are record numbers of people accessing health care because the Biden-Harris Administration has spent the time to get folks enrolled in the ACA to be able to access health care. These are gains, brothers, sisters, and siblings, that would not have happened under a Trump administration. These are gains that matter to your pocketbooks, gains that matter to your kitchen table because you need food on that table to survive. These are gains that matter to your kids’ future because they need jobs. Not everybody’s going to college. They need good union jobs to help them survive and earn a respectable living into the future. That does not come with that man who does not believe in us. We believe in us as working people. So pay attention, don’t be snowed by the bullshit. We know better.
