This reflects the power of collaboration between local communities, NGOs, and the Forest Department. Honouring the Enduring Legacy of Sahityaratna Lokshahir AnnaBhau Sathe Glad to be present at the bhoomipujan and stone plaque unveiling of the 'Sahityaratna Lokshahir Anna Bhau Sathe Research and Training Institute' being developed by the Slum Rehabilitation Authority, Brihanmumbai, along with DCM Eknath Shinde ji. The construction of a grand memorial for Sahityaratna Lokshahir Annabhau Sathe gained momentum in 2024. The project was entrusted to the Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA), with a commitment to ensuring the proper rehabilitation of every resident. We are determined to complete the memorial by 2029 and it will be inaugurated by Hon PM Narendra Modi Ji. Lokshahir Anna Bhau Sathe made extraordinary contributions to India's freedom struggle, the Goa Liberation Movement and the Sanyukta Maharashtra Movement. Through his literature, he gave voice to the marginalised and working class, inspiring generations with his courage, conviction and commitment to social justice. His literary legacy transcended borders, earning global recognition, including the installation of his statue in Russia. The Research and Training Institute being established as part of this memorial will empower the youth of the community and help them become active participants in Maharashtra's development journey. In another significant decision for the sector, Hon Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amitbhai Shah announced that the headquarters of the National Urban Cooperative Finance and Development Corporation (NUCFDC) will be shifted from Delhi to Maharashtra. Hon PM Narendra Modi Ji has given us the vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047, and the mantra of ‘Sahkar Se Samriddhi’ will play an important role in realising this vision. Every Urban Cooperative Bank in Maharashtra, even one with a single branch, should become a member of the Umbrella Organisation. This will strengthen depositors confidence, enhance security and further empower the cooperative banking ecosystem. Urban Cooperative Banks are an important pillar of our economy. From small shopkeepers and traders to cottage industries, MSMEs, professionals, women’s self-help groups and the middle class, they fulfil credit needs at the grassroots that larger banks may not always be able to address effectively. Into our oceans. Into the soil. Into the air we breathe.
