This would never be allowed today. Spike Milligan's sketch, "There's a Fly in My Soup" panders to French, German, Irish & Jewish stereotypes. The man is actor David Lodge & the lady is Katie Boyle who is most known for hosting Eurovision. Sit back & have a belly laugh.

From the time when comedy was genuine and actually funny.🤣

Don't forget the Spike Milligan sketch - Pakistani Daleks.

I’m Irish and this is Absoutely hillarious.

The Pakistani Dalek sketch is off the scale.

Why did I suddenly wonder if the fly in the soup would be halal or haram?

Very good, I love Spike Milligan, in fact, he invented 'spragnella'.

@MotleyPolly Q. Six brilliant series (1969-1982) from Spike with stalwarts Bob Todd, John Bluthal, Julia Breck, John Wells and David Lodge. Outstanding stuff. Thank goodness the archives remain.

Back when you could have a chuckle about our various foibles and the stereotypes that make us all different. Now the liberal mind has destroyed that ability to find humor in our humanity.

Spike Milligan loved the NLdn Jewish hood in which he raised his family. Yes he fired his airgun at kids who raided his apple trees after cheder but his daughter married a Jewish guy (see below). Cost of the wedding alone helped save the local synagogue. And he LOVED Israel❤️🇮🇱✡️

@GBullstein David Lodge was in Cockleshell Heroes. In Spike’s TV shows this was referred to a lot🤣🤣

@slim_douglas The nonsense which is censoring humour and we're worse off for it

Good morning, Dave ☀️ Those happy, heady days when we were allowed to have a sense of humour!

Spike was an original. There was none like him and there never will be. From his memoirs, to the Goons, to the 'Q' series, my belly hurt constantly. My simple act to honour his memory is a satisfaction in how he influenced my humour.
Such a shame we have no humour in entertainment anymore unless of course you watch Ricky 😊

@GBullstein Most of Spike Milligan Would not ‘fly’ today

I remember when we could laugh - classic 🤣

David Lodge "Cockleshell Hero" as Spike was wont to call him. "They fought at Cassino!" was a phrase my Grandad picked up from Spike.

When he did the Pakistani dalek sketch, the outrage on behalf of others brigade called it racist and demanded it be removed, the actual Pakistanis said leave it alone, they thought it was hilarious.

Mexico: "Waiter, waiter! There's a fly in my soup" "Let him cross, he's going to find work." Russia: "Waiter comrade, there is a fly in my soup" "Is it American?" "No" "Ok" China: "Waiter, waiter! There's a fly in my soup" "That's our secret formula." From the YT comment section

Superb! 🤣

Still don't understand the fuss. I don't care if the rest of the world parodies the english ( a lot do) so why should they care if we parody some of them them ?

This is glorious! It maybe based on easy racial stereotypes, but I still did not see any of the 'national' responses coming.

@GBullstein 🤣🤣🤣🤣 oh dear what a shame we have videos.

@slim_douglas The only way to relive that humour is here on X , if only there was an account dedicated to it 😂

Hilarious 👍👍

Such fun😂👍🏻

Katie just about managed to keep her face straight 😂🤣

There's Gold, and then there's timeless Gold. @MozartsTrump @MiraGhoshal @CassieLillian @rreactor

Slightly O/T, but has there ever been a lady more aristocratically beautiful than Katie Boyle? The only one who came close, imo, is Grace Kelly.

Paki Paddys is another level

Brilliant don’t make them like that anymore 😥

Hilarious

That is hilarious. Thanks.
