This decision has been taken primarily to curb incidents like Love Jihad. It will also be mandatory to mention parents’ details in the marriage registration form. To ascertain family consent, government officers will personally meet the families of both the bride and the groom to verify their approval. If any family member objects to the marriage, an official hearing will be conducted on the basis of a written objection application, with a fixed time limit of 30 days.

Azerbaijan is once again making accusations against Armenia, claiming that the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia contains territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Let’s now examine the Constitution of Azerbaijan. The Constitution of Azerbaijan refers to the 1991 Act of State Independence. This act mentions the Declaration of Independence of Azerbaijan from May 28, 1918, and the Act of Independence states that modern Azerbaijan is the successor to Azerbaijan from 1918-1920. The 1918-1920 Declaration of Azerbaijan indicates that the territory of Azerbaijan includes Southern and Eastern Transcaucasia, and in the map presented to the Entente in 1919, Azerbaijan laid claim to the territories of Syunik and Vayots Dzor in full, and partially to the territories of Tavush, Gegharkunik, Ararat, Lori, and Shirak. Unlike the Constitution of Armenia, the Constitution of Azerbaijan contains territorial claims against Armenia. How are we responding to this issue? First point: there are less than 50 Armenian civilians in Nagorno-Karabakh. Azerbaijan successfully ethnically cleansed it, in large part because Azerbaijan faced no objection from the "international community" in doing so. And this non-answer is especially maddening after a half hour of spox explaining that US has and will continue to send Israel military aid and defending Israel's large-scale attacks on civilian settlements by saying, "any country would do this if they saw children being slaughtered and hostages being taken." But we did see this from Azerbaijan during its 2020 war on Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh. The US didn't send Armenia military aid to fight its invader, Azerbaijan, or condemn Azerbaijan; it called on both sides to de-escalate. And the US continues to send Azerbaijan military aid.
