Will Labour break their manifesto pledge to ‘just stop oil’ - I got into that with Times Radio yesterday and slew the commonly argued dragons of the pro oil lobby. New drilling can't lower our energy bills or give us energy security, it won't last very long anyway and there’s no tax gain for the economy (relatively new claim from Rachael Reeve this week)…:). What is it good for? Only for companies that drill. The only way to bring bills down is to ‘break the link’.

But instead of pushing that line Dale Vince explained how, despite it not being ideal, North Sea oil and gas could bring down UK bills if pricing was disconnected from the international markets. Faisal Islam was in shock at hearing the above, expecting instead outright criticism of continued drilling in the North Sea.
