Drone footage shows the monks crossing over the Catawba River into Fort Mill, South Carolina. The Walk for Peace is a 120-day pilgrimage that began in the Huong Dao Buddhist Temple in Fort Worth, Texas, on Oct. 26.

On the day that marks the end of a month of sacrifice, it was fitting that we joined those who sacrifice to keep us safe at the COAS Sallah Luncheon for Troops in the Field of 2 Division Area of Responsibility in Igbeti, Olorunsogo LGA. As I said in my remarks, their welfare is our shared responsibility and we will continue to do all we can to support them to carry out their duties. May their sacrifices never be in vain and may Nigeria continue to find peace through their service to the nation.

Just before the prayer vigil for peace and the recitation of the Holy Rosary began in St. Peter’s Basilica, Pope Leo XIV made a surprise appearance in St. Peter’s Square to greet and bless the faithful who were unable to enter the Basilica.
