$Showing off two unique features of my #threejs Advanced Glass Material: colored caustics and glass-to-glass interaction. The glass can actually “see” other glass objects in the scene, preserving their depth, internal reflections, and refractions. The green color being visible through the blue glass shows the color and depth interaction. Color grading in Blender is how you build your visual style. Most artists skip it — and every render ends up looking like a render. Technically fine. Visually forgettable. Since using probes is a very technical subject and difficult to understand without visual examples, I decided to create a video with an exaggerated example to show the incredible results that mrdoob 's work with probes can provide. As you can see in the video, the hybrid solution of probes with SSGI blends the best of both worlds: projected lights when the objects emitting the color are in the scene, and indirect light provided by the probes when they are not. Of course, nobody is going to use red and green walls at home lol. This is just a visual example to exaggerate the use and demonstrate how the technology works from a creative point of view. 🚀 I'm launching r3f-webgpu-perf today! "npm i r3f-webgpu-perf" One thing I missed while working with WebGPU in React Three Fiber was a performance monitor similar to r3f-perf. The existing tool is fantastic, but it doesn’t support the WebGPU renderer yet. So I decided to build one. ✅ Supports both WebGL and WebGPU ✅ Modern and customizable UI ✅ Lightweight and easy to integrate ✅ Built specifically for React Three Fiber My goal is to turn r3f-webgpu-perf into more than just a metrics dashboard. There’s a reason 300 still looks so unique 🔥 They used a special color grading to give it that gritty, bronze finish. It’s shot almost entirely on green screens to make it feel more like a painting than a standard film. When you add that signature speed-ramping in the fights, it turns every battle into a masterpiece. It’s easily one of the most stylish films ever made. 🙌💯

This woman picked up a badly painted dresser for just $25 on Facebook Marketplace and completely transformed it. It was covered in thick paint, but underneath was beautiful walnut veneer and even a cedar-lined chest at the bottom. She stripped off all the old paint, sanded it down, added some nice details for visual interest, and gave it a fresh modern two-tone finish. I’m not a big fan of painting wood, but I have to admit that this mix of painted wood and natural wood looks stunning and gives it a nice modern look. It feels so much more intentional and classy than covering the whole piece in one solid color. Sometimes the best pieces are the ones other people gave up on. A little time, the right tools, and some creativity can completely transform something that looked like a lost cause. Have you ever rescued a piece of furniture from Marketplace or a thrift store and brought it back to life?

Spending Christmas in Singapore and we're currently swimming in what's known as the most spectacular swimming pool in Asia, atop the Marina Bay Hotel. Lives up to the hype to be honest, very cool place! Singapore in general is very pleasant, dynamic and feels altogether harmonious. The only thing that surprised me is that it's less high-tech than what you'd expect. Very few EV cars in the streets for instance. So for this, at first glance, it definitely feels more like the West than like China. Which is surprising: I'd have expected them to be more of a bridge between both. Not complaining though, Singapore is a great place to spend a few days, and looks like it'd be a nice place to live too.

Tonight, a total solar eclipse will cross parts of Europe. I’m also very happy to see my project featured in Datawrapper’s Dispatch, alongside wonderful work from Reuters and The New York Times — teams whose work I’ve admired for years. It’s a real honor to be in such company. Over the past few days, I’ve made a lot of improvements to my Solar Eclipse Atlas. I’m especially grateful to Ernie Wright, a lead visualization specialist at NASA, who took the time to review the project and suggest a small but important improvement. I’ve already implemented it, making the visualization of eclipse paths more accurate. I’ve also added a new feature to the city view. You can now hover over any eclipse and see how it actually unfolded in the sky: how the Moon moved across the Sun, or how it will move during a future eclipse. So for any city, you can now simulate any solar eclipse from 2000 BCE to 3000 CE and see what it looked like from that exact place on Earth. #eclipse #sun

I'm sorry but i'm starting to think Elio is actually more possessive than Ayden 😅 Ayden is just way more obvious abt it, like we've seen how he gets whenever someone wants to touch Elio.. but Elio?? he's sneaky with it 😅 like the waitress was gonna serve Ayden water and Elio immediately took over😅 sir nobody was even taking your man away 😭and then there's the whole thing abt Ayden's close friends… Elio wanted to know who they were, and Ayden ended up introducing all his close friends to him.. idk, i feel like Elio is the type to notice everything but never say much. he'll just quietly do his thing and somehow make sure everything is under control 😅 meanwhile Ayden is the one who makes it so obvious whenever he doesn't like someone getting too close to Elio.. the more i notice these little things, the more i'm like… ohh, is Elio actually the possessive one here🤭 #政瞳 #AyLio

The first time I saw the Predator cloak effect, I knew I wanted to learn visual effects and make them part of my professional life. Turn the sound on — it makes the experience much more fun 😅 This is also a great exercise if you’re learning TSL and want to experiment with glass, dispersion, IOR, and custom shaders. Both the classic shader version and the new TSL version are included in the repo so you can compare the approaches side by side. Hope it’s useful. GPT-6 is one of most noticable jumps you can't argue. And 3D is where it shows the hardest. I ran it through Blender few days: assembled a whole car from primitives, rigged and animated my quadruped creature, built a stylized island town and more. The full video with every test is out. My recommendation: run it through MCP. Computer Use is more of a fun demo, but with the right MCP tools it gets close to magic. If you don't want to wait forever and burn all your tokens, use the full setup. I break down mine in the video.

Alex Proyas on the Commercial failure of 'Dark City' (1998) & its similarities with 'The Matrix' (1999): "Interviewer: Are you surprised by how big a cult film it has become? Proyas: I was surprised it didn't achieve commercial success initially, but I'm happy it has had this long-lasting life after the fact. I was pretty disappointed the studio hadn't really managed to sell the movie in the way that they could have. I don't think they really knew what to make of it quite frankly. The studio put out a trailer that was quite clever. It was completely non-narrative, just music and imagery. The guys who made the trailer specifically wrote a piece of music for the trailer, and the whole thing felt handcrafted and definitely had a personality. I think people were genuinely impressed by it but it didn't explain to them what the movie was or give them an idea of the kind of experience they were going to get. I think it made audiences think it was some kind of a horror movie. As a result people kind of overlooked it in the theaters. I know 99% of the people who loved it and always ask me about it are people who saw it on video years later. How do you feel about the similarities the later 'The Matrix' (1999) has to 'Dark City' (1998)? If I answer that question honestly it sounds like sour grapes because obviously 'The Matrix' did better commercially than 'Dark City' did. 'Dark City' came out a year before 'The Matrix', one of my producers on 'Dark City' worked on 'The Matrix', and the Wachowskis saw 'Dark City' a good nine months before 'Dark City' came out in the theaters, so they had a good run at picking the more important cherries off the cake. I feel like it's a question I can't answer in any more detail than that, other than to say that maybe the Wachowskis should be asked the question rather than me."
