A student at Jadavpur University (JU), Somsurya Banerjee, says, "On 28th March, we submitted a letter to the university on behalf of General students of JU seeking permission (for Ram Navami Celebrations); today, we received a signed copy from the university stating that they cannot grant the permission as the VC is absent. They are using this as an excuse. Similarly, on April 3 and 4 - SFI held a political programme, and that too in the absence of the VC, but they had permission. Every religious activity like 'iftaar' was organised here on the university campus, but none of us objected to it. We have given intimation to the university and also written an e-mail to the police that we will celebrate Ram Navami peacefully... We expect that all the student unions and the administration will respect and cooperate in our celebrations..."

A Semiconductor company was planning to invest in Karnataka. They were told by the Union Govt that if they want incentives, they shouldn't invest in 'Enemy States' according to a Karnataka Minister. Usually 'Enemy States' is a term used for enemy countries, but now it is used to address non-BJP ruled states. Modi Govt is weaponizing Central Schemes to promote investments to Gujarat and only Gujarat! Union Govt is supposed to be impartial, but even Maharashtra which is a BJP ruled state is also considered an enemy state. We are not against Gujarat's development. But India is not just Gujarat and Gujarat is not entire India. When a new Govt comes in the centre and if all projects are taking to another state, how will people of Gujarat feel? #WATCH | Uttar Pradesh | Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) officials affix a notice on the building where a massive fire in a coaching institute in the Aliganj area, resulted in the death of 15 people on 22nd June. Through this notice, the LDA has demanded a response from the building owners within 15 days and is prepared to take further action regarding the building involved in the Aliganj fire incident. "If the LDA does not receive a satisfactory reply, demolition proceedings using bulldozers will be initiated," the notice reads.

According to the University council, the university looks shabby with business kiosks, for that matter over 400 businesses providing a range of services to mostly students were demolished yesterday leaving students with no alternatives and rendering close to 700 people unemployed. Most of these vendors still had contracts running with the university. It is traumatising and distressing seeing vendors that have served the university community for so many years totally stuck; no compesation was offered and no eviction notice was given after a court ruling in favour of the university. Attempts by the students to block the eviction exercise failed leaving 10 of them in detention at Wandegeya police station. Letters to the university by the students guild leadership calling on the university to halt the exercise were ignored. Madam Lorna Magara, Yusuf Kiranda was there not a better way to handle this.
