Meta is under Israel’s thumb. Israel through its influence over former IDF Employees has allowed for more aggressive deplatforming of Pro-Palestinians voices on the Meta. The head of Ai Policy at Meta is an ex-IDF soldier which is a hugely influential position and can create policies that let the AI systematically remove Pro-Palestine voices from as my FYP’s as possible via shadow bans and outright banning of these accounts. Meta has a long history as a platform that silences speech and this only serves to continue this strong legacy.

Meta employees are smarter than the contract workers the rest of the industry uses for data labeling. So instead of hiring outside help, Meta is turning its own workforce into training data. "The average intelligence of the people who are at this company is significantly higher than the average set of people that you can get to do tasks if you're working through these contractors." He wants the AI to learn how "really smart people use computers" by watching employees work. He says the content is "stripped out" and none of it is used for surveillance or performance tracking. Then he admitted the rollout was botched but said Meta intentionally kept employees in the dark because leaking competitive AI strategy would help rivals. "It is not strategically in your interest for us to communicate everything in all the detail that we normally would on this." Translation: We're watching you, we told you as little as possible, and we did it on purpose. AI is replacing the contractor. Then the employee trains the AI. Then the AI replaces the employee. This story and this company keeps getting weirder.

Thousands of workers at Samsung Electronics, the world’s largest chip maker and Korea’s biggest company, have launched an indefinite strike. Originally planned as a three-day action, the strike has extended indefinitely after management refused to engage in talks with the workers. So far, over 6,540 members of the National Samsung Electronics Union (NSEU), the largest union at Samsung Electronics, have participated in the strike. The union represents about 30,000 workers, or 24% of all Samsung employees. The union’s demands include a 5.6% basic pay raise for all members, a guaranteed day off on the union’s founding day, and compensation for economic losses due to the strike. Despite Samsung’s claims that the strike has not impacted production, the union reports disruptions on chip lines and that some equipment is running slower.

Interior Minister Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousuf Al-Sabah ordered police to apprehend the owner of the Mangaf building where a fatal blaze that occurred Wednesday, the building's janitor, as well as the owner of the company responsible for the workers who live in said building pending the end of the criminal evidence personnel's examination of the scene. The building had reportedly had nearly 160 people living in it, who are workers of the same company, as the fire's death toll reached 41. "What happened today is a result of the greed of company and building owners," the minister said in a statement as he toured the fire scene. Sheikh Fahad added that he gave orders to Kuwait Municipality and the Public Authority for Manpower to launch immediate action to address similar violations where large number of workers are crammed into one residential building, and make sure that all safety requirements are in place in order to prevent similar incidents in the future.
