Today, air raid sirens across Ukraine have sounded almost the entire day. Overnight, there was yet another Russian attack with missiles and drones—ballistic strikes and more than 140 attack drones in a single night. It was loud in Kyiv and in other cities. Tragically, there are wounded and killed.... My condolences to all the families affected. Rescue efforts continue all day in Kharkiv, Sumy, and the capital. It is entirely fair that the Russian sky—the sky of the aggressor—is not calm either today. Ukraine’s proposal for a ceasefire of at least 30 days still stands, we are not withdrawing it, as it offers a real chance for diplomacy. But it is Russia that the world sees giving no answer—no response except for new strikes. This clearly and obviously shows who is the source of this war. Russia must end its aggression—and it will have to. The only question is time. War is a loss for everyone, including the aggressor.show more

Tragically, at least 8 people have already been confirmed dead. One of them is a child. My condolences to all their families and loved ones. People may still be trapped under the rubble. Dozens are wounded. These Russian missiles and attack drones today are a clear response to everyone in the world who, for weeks and months, has been calling for a ceasefire and for real diplomacy. Russia chooses ballistics instead of the negotiating table. It chooses to continue killing instead of ending the war. And this means that Russia still does not fear the consequences. Russia still takes advantage of the fact that at least part of the world turns a blind eye to murdered children and seeks excuses for Putin. We expect a reaction from China to what is going on. China has repeatedly called for not expanding the war and for a ceasefire. Yet this is not happening because of Russia. We expect a reaction from Hungary. The death of children should definitely stir far greater emotions than anything else. We expect a response from everyone in the world who has called for peace but now more often stays silent rather than taking principled positions. In Odesa, debris is still being cleared at the residential building hit by a Russian drone. Numerous fires broke out in the city overnight. In total, Odesa was attacked by 21 drones. Tragically, there have been fatalities. My condolences to the families and loved ones. All those affected are receiving the necessary assistance. Also under attack during the night were the Odesa, Kyiv, and Sumy regions, Kropyvnytskyi and its region, as well as the Kharkiv and Cherkasy regions. In the Kharkiv region, rescuers are still battling a fire. Last night alone, the Russian forces used 170 drones against Ukraine — more than a hundred of them "Shaheds". For over 50 days now, Russia has been ignoring the American proposal for a full and unconditional ceasefire. There were also our proposals — at the very least, to refrain from striking civilian infrastructure and to establish lasting silence in the sky, at sea, and on land. Russia has responded to all this with new shelling and new assaults. That is why a strong push for diplomacy is needed — continued pressure on Russia is essential to force it into silence and negotiations. The more effective the sanctions, the more incentives Russia will have to end the war. And every such wave of Russian strikes reminds us of two things: air defense – we need more systems, more coverage across our country – and also our long-range strikes on Russia. Unfortunately, one person was killed — my condolences to their family and loved ones. As of now, five others have been reported injured. All are receiving medical assistance. Earlier today, there was an air raid alert in Kyiv due to an attack drone. Many regions have reported Russian strikes and shelling. In particular, Nikopol was hit by five Russian FPV drones — a completely deliberate strike on the city, near a food market, targeting civilians. Twelve people were injured, including one child. There were also Russian attacks on Kharkiv, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Mykolaiv regions. Sumy region continues to suffer constant attacks by guided aerial bombs. And all of this is happening nearly a month after the United States proposed a full ceasefire. Russia is clearly ignoring diplomacy and using its contacts with the world solely to serve its own interests — not to end the war. Seven people are currently being treated in hospitals in Dnipro after a Russian attack on the city. Five people have been hospitalized in Odesa, two of them in critical condition. One person was wounded in the Kharkiv region. Dozens of people have been affected by Russian strikes today. All are receiving the necessary assistance. Last night alone, Russia launched more than 200 drones against Ukraine, most of them “shaheds,” and there were also ballistic missiles. Since this morning, there have been around thirty more attack drones. Strikes targeted various cities. In the Mykolaiv region, energy grid facilities were attacked, and thousands of families were left without electricity. In Odesa, residential buildings were hit. In Dnipro, a bus was destroyed, and a residential building, a shop, and passenger cars were damaged. There has also been damage from the attack in Zaporizhzhia. It is important that our partners do not forget – this war continues every day, and security is needed every day. Russia must end this war, and only pressure can ensure that. Sadly, the number of wounded increased during the day. There are fatalities. In the morning, Russia carried out another drone strike on a civilian logistics center in the Kyiv region. The National University of Pharmacy – for Russia, simply a target. Russian guided aerial bombs continue to rain down on communities in the Sumy, Kharkiv, and Donetsk regions. Today, during the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye to Ukraine we discussed diplomacy, all the real opportunities that exist and those that must be created. I also had a good meeting with U.S. Senators Graham and Blumenthal. I thank them for their support of Ukraine, their support for diplomacy, and their efforts to bring moral clarity to the situation. It was Russia that started this war. It is Russia that must stop the killings and the destruction of lives. It is very important that this is voiced in the media, in Congress, and in all the world’s influential offices. If Russia continues to speak in the language of ultimatums, if it tries to blackmail the world with the continuation of war, it must receive a strong response — a response from the United States, from Europe, and from everyone around the world who wants peace and who has declared their support for a ceasefire and for diplomacy.

It is heartbreaking to hear of the loss of life in Kyiv this morning in this appalling attack by Russia. I am praying for all those affected and their families. We were safe and well in a very secure shelter but it is a stark reminder of the dangers people here are facing every day, even when it doesn’t hit the headlines. A reminder again that, with all the crises in the world, we must not and will not forget Ukraine.
