This week, we’ve seen important decisions from our partners, decisions that really help. France has confirmed a new missile package. We continue with France a significant training program for our soldiers. I’m grateful for this support. We are working closely with the U.S. on new defense packages that will bolster our air defense systems – a critical need as winter approaches and Russian strikes persist. We also need real progress in terms of range long-range capabilities. Additionally, a decision has been made that allows American contractors to work in Ukraine on equipment repairs and maintenance, which will expedite these processes. I am also grateful to Canada for working with us to supply additional Nassams air defense systems. The UK has taken new action this week, imposing sanctions on Russian entities fueling the war. This is important, and I thank for this. All Russian individuals and entities supporting their military-industrial complex should be isolated globally, reducing Russia’s capacity to avoid fair, real diplomacy and continue this war. Sanctions need to curb Putin’s overconfidence, and that is achievable. Lithuania is preparing a new military aid package and collaborating with us on securing funds for weapon purchases and local production. Sweden - there are new decisions in both civilian and military support, particularly for maritime security. I want to express our deep gratitude to every partner around the world who is helping us.

There have been meetings at various levels, and one of our top priorities is securing long-range capabilities for our Defense Forces. This is crucial to preventing the terror that our Kharkiv and other cities across Ukraine are forced to endure. Clearing Ukrainian skies of Russian guided bombs is a powerful step toward forcing Russia to seek an end to the war and a just peace. Our representatives have provided all the necessary information and details to our partners. I am calling on the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany – we need the means to fully and effectively protect Ukraine and its people. We need permissions for long-range capabilities, as well as your long-range shells and missiles. We now have the necessary political statements and decisions, and we must implement them as quickly as possible to protect our people and our positions. I thank our partners and Mark Rutte that the PURL initiative exists and is functioning – contributions were made this May. There will be contributions in June as well. Today, we discussed how we can accelerate and expand deliveries under this key program. I also thank all our partners who are already working with us on joint production and helping with funding so that weapons production in Ukraine can continue to grow. We discussed with the NATO Secretary General several other things that could provide Ukraine with stronger long-term financial security guarantees. We will keep working on this at both the G7 Summit and the NATO Summit in Ankara. Sanctions against Russia. Our long-range capabilities. Financing for Ukraine. Our political cooperation. And our partners’ determination to help Ukraine precisely when help is needed – all of this sends signals to Russia that this war will bring it no results. All of this is also an incentive for Russia to turn to diplomacy. And we very much hope that over the summer and autumn we will be able to bring a real peace closer – a fair and dignified peace. I would like to thank the countries that announced new assistance for Ukraine this week. I am grateful to Germany, Finland, and Lithuania for their new military aid packages. Estonia will expand security investment in ammunition production over the next years, which is important. There is progress in artillery, including the manufacture of 155-calibre artillery ammunition in Ukraine. A new production platform is being prepared. We will also have greater combat aviation and electronic warfare capabilities. I am grateful to France and President Macron for taking the initiative and supporting our proposals for soldier training and brigade provision. Together, we are laying a new, systemic foundation for the training of Ukrainian army units. We maintain active communication with all of our partners at all levels. The first Peace Summit will take place in just a week. There will also be important meetings and talks with European leaders to strengthen our resilience and protection against Russian terror. We have already reached agreements with partners on additional air defense systems for Ukraine. Some will come to fruition sooner, while others will materialize closer to the autumn. The Nordic countries and Baltic states are among those who have stood with us most firmly and consistently – defending freedom, our nations, and our Europe. Negotiating teams from Ukraine and the United States continue their work on pathways to end this war with a dignified peace. And our long-range sanctions against Russia are also working as required. The aggressor must understand that war brings no dividends and always returns to where it came from. I thank everyone who is helping Ukraine. Over the past week, Russia has launched approximately 1,300 attack drones, nearly 1,200 guided aerial bombs, and 9 missiles of various types against Ukraine. Odesa region and our south were hit particularly hard. Our services continue their work to restore normal life in the regions. We are countering this Russian terror at multiple levels. I want to thank our partners for fulfilling their commitments regarding air defense. We set a goal to double the strength of our air shield, and today marks the beginning of this. I am grateful to Germany for the Patriot system, which is already in Ukraine—this is excellent news. Additionally, I thank the United States for taking another step in strengthening our air defense and our Patriots. We continue to work, and new decisions will surely follow. Ukrainians have already proven that there are no Russian missiles we cannot shoot down. We are doing everything possible to ensure Russian terror is defeated.

We are now in a new phase of development for the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. We have done a lot to transition the Ukrainian Air Force to a new aviation standard – Western combat aviation. From the beginning of this war, we have been talking with our partners about the need to close the Ukrainian sky from Russian missiles and aircraft. We have held hundreds of meetings and negotiations to strengthen the capabilities of our aviation, air defense, and Defense Forces. We often heard the word "impossible" in response, but we made possible what was our ambition, our defense need, and now – it is a reality in our sky. F-16s in Ukraine. We ensured this. I am proud of all our guys who are skillfully mastering these aircraft and have already started using them for our country. I thank our team for this result. I thank all the partners who are truly helping with the F-16s, and the first countries that accepted our request for aircraft – Denmark, the Netherlands, the United States, – and all our partners, – we value your support. I wish our Air Force and all our warriors to feel the pride of Ukrainians in our combat aviation and to bring Ukraine the combat results that will bring our victory closer – our just peace for Ukraine.

We are continuing to work with our American partners at all levels to ensure that the Ukraine aid package is passed by the US Senate on time. Both the President’s Office and our diplomats are actively working to ensure a positive political outcome of the swift approval, as well as a positive outcome of the package itself, which should include the items that our warriors on the front lines expect so much. The time between political decisions and actual damage to the enemy on the front lines, between the package's approval and our warriors' strengthening, must be as short as possible. This strength must be the one capable of truly changing the situation on the frontlines. Frontline air defense is just as important as protection for our cities and villages. Our long-range capabilities, artillery, and ability to expand our area of control are all important. Every day is important now, in terms of communication, politics, and logistics. And I am grateful to all of our friends in the United States, as well as our partners around the world, who see common opportunities and tasks in the same way that we do in Ukraine. Together, we must stop Russian terror by all means, limit Russia's terror potential, and force Putin to admit the obvious: this war will yield no results for him.
