We have done a lot to transition the Ukrainian Air Force to a new aviation standard – Western combat aviation. From the beginning of this war, we have been talking with our partners about the need to close the Ukrainian sky from Russian missiles and aircraft. We have held hundreds of meetings and negotiations to strengthen the capabilities of our aviation, air defense, and Defense Forces. We often heard the word "impossible" in response, but we made possible what was our ambition, our defense need, and now – it is a reality in our sky. F-16s in Ukraine. We ensured this. I am proud of all our guys who are skillfully mastering these aircraft and have already started using them for our country. I thank our team for this result. I thank all the partners who are truly helping with the F-16s, and the first countries that accepted our request for aircraft – Denmark, the Netherlands, the United States, – and all our partners, – we value your support. We will do everything to further intensify diplomacy. We will do everything to make diplomacy effective. But every day now is about defending our independence, our state, and our people. We must remember – it is the support of our army, all our defense and security forces, and our state that determines everything. As a result of negotiations and meetings in France, we now have new decisions from France and the United States regarding Ukrainian defense. I thank our friends. There is progress in artillery, including the manufacture of 155-calibre artillery ammunition in Ukraine. A new production platform is being prepared. We will also have greater combat aviation and electronic warfare capabilities. I am grateful to France and President Macron for taking the initiative and supporting our proposals for soldier training and brigade provision. As a result of negotiations and meetings in France, we now have new decisions from France and the United States regarding Ukrainian defense. I thank our friends. There is progress in artillery, including the manufacture of 155-calibre artillery ammunition in Ukraine. A new production platform is being prepared. We will also have greater combat aviation and electronic warfare capabilities. I am grateful to France and President Macron for taking the initiative and supporting our proposals for soldier training and brigade provision. Together, we are laying a new, systemic foundation for the training of Ukrainian army units. We maintain active communication with all of our partners at all levels. The first Peace Summit will take place in just a week. There will also be important meetings and talks with European leaders to strengthen our resilience and protection against Russian terror. Ballistic missiles are Russia’s last remaining argument in this war, and we must find sufficient countermeasures. I thank our partners and Mark Rutte that the PURL initiative exists and is functioning – contributions were made this May. There will be contributions in June as well. Today, we discussed how we can accelerate and expand deliveries under this key program. I also thank all our partners who are already working with us on joint production and helping with funding so that weapons production in Ukraine can continue to grow. We discussed with the NATO Secretary General several other things that could provide Ukraine with stronger long-term financial security guarantees. We will keep working on this at both the G7 Summit and the NATO Summit in Ankara. Sanctions against Russia. Our long-range capabilities. Financing for Ukraine. Our political cooperation. And our partners’ determination to help Ukraine precisely when help is needed – all of this sends signals to Russia that this war will bring it no results. All of this is also an incentive for Russia to turn to diplomacy. And we very much hope that over the summer and autumn we will be able to bring a real peace closer – a fair and dignified peace.
