Do you guys know what it means to break an Ankle?

You can actually see the second his ankle gives. He plants, the foot folds, and he still keeps moving so the shot doesn’t die. That’s either legendary commitment or a stunt coordinator’s worst nightmare

This why Tom Cruise gets paid the big bucks!” The cast of Mission: Impossible reacts to his most painful stunt injury. Graham Norton: You’ve been filming for nearly a year, so you must be almost finished, right? Tom Cruise: We had to shut down because I broke my ankle, but we’re about six weeks away. It’s still broken, but we have a release date so we have to keep going! Graham Norton: It’s nuts that you’re running on it! Everyone thought you’d break a jaw hitting that wall. How did you break an ankle? Tom Cruise: Hitting the wall wasn't the mistake that was the stunt! I was supposed to hit the side of the wall, climb up, and run past camera.

Tom Cruise is so dedicated to his work, he literally shattered his ankle slamming into that wall, stood back up and finished running the take just so they wouldn't have to reshoot it.

In Top Gun (1986), Tom Cruise completely blanked while looking at Kelly McGillis during this scene, so instead of stopping the take or asking for another shot, he suddenly kissed her — director Tony Scott loved the improvised moment and kept it in the film.

Tom Cruise had doubts about being the right fit for Jack Reacher. According to author Lee Child, Cruise even acknowledged it during filming. While shooting the bar fight where five men surround Reacher, Cruise did an extra take and said, “You expect somebody bigger?” As Child explained, “He knew he was physically wrong.”

🚨 TOM CRUISE STARTED SAYING THINGS HOLLYWOOD DIDN’T LIKE — THEN SOMETHING ABOUT HIM COMPLETELY CHANGED There was a time when Tom Cruise seemingly didn’t give a damn what Hollywood or the media thought about him. He publicly attacked psychiatry, condemned psychiatric drugs, challenged reporters to their faces and famously jumped all over Oprah’s couch while declaring his love for Katie Holmes. The media branded him unhinged. But Cruise kept going. He argued with Matt Lauer over antidepressants, told an Australian reporter to “put your manners back in” after questions about Nicole Kidman and seemed perfectly willing to risk his reputation to say exactly what he believed. Then something changed. The wild interviews disappeared. The confrontations faded. His public image became dramatically more controlled, and Cruise transformed into the relentlessly professional Hollywood superstar people know today. Years later, leaked audio from the Mission: Impossible set showed another side of him as he exploded at crew members for violating COVID protocols, declaring: “We are NOT shutting this movie down!” Did Tom Cruise simply grow up and learn to control himself... or did Hollywood finally teach him what happens when you refuse to play the game?

Tom Cruise actually performed this entire mountain-climbing sequence himself — no stunt double involved. The scene was filmed at Dead Horse Point in Utah, where the team spent weeks mapping out every move and camera angle. Cruise trained in free climbing for months to make it feel authentic, and director John Woo said he was determined to do it all for real. At one point, he even injured his shoulder during a jump and still went back to finish the scene. No green screen, no CGI — just raw effort, precision, and one of the most memorable openings ever shot.
