Tom Cruise & Sean Penn are just about the same age & come from the same generation. Both Cruise & Penn delivered some of the best work of their careers with PTA directing. It’s why I can’t let go of the thought of Cruise playing Colonel Lockjaw. Could Cruise... show more

I think only Sean Penn could have played the role the way he did!

Penn was the better fit, imho, for this kind of role.

Still a terrible movie, stop trying to convince us otherwise.

Tom would have been good but not as convincing as sean as a redneck white supremacist obedient and subservient soldier imo

Tom Cruise is profound in The Last Samurai. This performance is unlike anything else Cruise has done in his career. And while this movie earned 4 Oscar nominations, Cruise wasn’t one of them. I just don’t get the Academy’s affinity with constantly snubbing Cruise over and over.

Tom Cruise gets fucked up in nearly every way imaginable for over 2 hours in Edge of Tomorrow. What I love about this Cruise performance is Cruise plays a character who is not in control of anything, subverting the Cruise we see as Mav or Ethan Hunt. It’s Cruise at his best.

Tom Cruise didn’t have to star in #Digger (🌟🌟🌟🌟). He didn’t have to take one of the biggest swings of his storied career. He could’ve used all the goodwill from Top Gun: Maverick & Mission: Impossible and done something safe. At 64, would anyone have blamed Cruise? Instead - as has been the case with Tom Cruise’s entire career - this man put two middle fingers to the sky. He said fuck your expectations of me. He said I’m making real art & I don’t give a damn who likes it. The things Cruise just did in Digger are utterly fearless. What more do you want from an artist??

Sean Penn played both Jeff Spicoli & Colonel Steven Lockjaw. Tell me another actor capable of playing both roles as well as Penn. It’s one of the reasons I constantly refer to this man as one of the best actor’s alive. Personal feelings aside, Penn is as good as anyone ever.

Michael Mann showed up to the premier of #Digger earlier this week to support Tom Cruise & I found it to be such a cool moment. Cruise has worked some of the best directors of the last 50 years: Mann, Scorsese, PTA, Kubrick, the Scott Brothers, Spielberg - the list is so long. But I think out of all of those collaborations, Cruise’s work with Mann might be the most interesting. I have nothing negative to say about a film like Collateral. Spotless. Unimpeachable. Infinitely rewatchable. Is there enough time for Cruise & Mann to run it back?

Tom Cruise just announced the full trailer for his upcoming release Digger drops July 13th. You might be asking: who cares, why is this a big deal? Well, it’s the first time we’ll see Cruise in this world/as this character- which is reportedly one of the biggest creative swings of Cruise’s legendary career. All I know is this- wherever Cruise goes, I’ll follow.

I am British travel agent with almost 30 years experience! The person in the video from the cruise ship (below) is completly FAKE! (& very gay!) It is never a good idea to choose your crisis actors from among the ships CREW! As cruise ships are hives of disease, this could be a bad case of food poisoning which the media is dressing up as the next plandemic! "Never let a crisis go to waste!" & NEVER BOOK or go on a crusie! Cruise ships are incubators for every disease known to man! From on board food poisoning to tropical diseases. I have worked in the travel industry all my life & have been honoured to have visited over 60 countries, but I will NEVER go on a cruise!

Tom Cruise is my super early pick for the Oscar for Best Actor. I obviously haven’t seen Digger yet but it appears as if the stars are beginning to align behind Cruise: he’s marketing the Hell out of this film far in advance of its release (he was everywhere this summer, including the World Cup), his older films are being rereleased in theaters throughout the year, and the entire industry appears to be behind Cruise. As you all know, there’s a difference between who I think will win & who I think should win the Oscar. The “should win” portion comes after I see every film. But for now? The “will win” pick points to Cruise.

Dan Farrah, director of The Age of Disclosure, watched Disclosure Day at a private screening hosted by Tom Cruise “With regard to Disclosure Day I saw it and I loved it. I went to the premier on Monday. I went to a small screening Tom Cruise hosted last night. Movies have a unique ability of opening people’s minds to new ideas, and no one has done it more effectively on this topic as Steven Spielberg.”

Michael Mann recently commented on Instagram that he’s seen Tom Cruise’s performance in Digger & it’s amazing. Game recognize game. A reminder that Mann & Cruise have worked together & when they did…it was sheer excellence. Collateral is some of the best work Cruise has ever done. It’s also an all-time great LA film.

I still can’t stop thinking about Tom Cruise & #MissionImpossible. The stunts Cruise & Christopher McQuarrie pulled off in The Final Reckoning are some of the most impressive stunts in the history of Cinema. I’m not sure how some people didn’t love this film. I was blown away.

Tom Cruise returns to theaters on Friday. I can’t wait. If his performance in Digger is anywhere near the things he pulls off as Les Grossman in Tropic Thunder, I’m sold. I think Cruise is such an underrated actor. For all his fame & fortune, I don’t think people recognize the acting chops on Cruise. The Academy certainly hasn’t recognized Cruise’s chops but I’ll address them/deal with that issue later this week. For now? I’m basking in Tom Cruise Week.

Tom Cruise’s performance in The Last Samurai is one of the first things I bring up anytime someone ignorantly suggests that Cruise can’t act. Cruise is quietly vulnerable in this role & his physicality and dedication is impeccable. Cruise’s nonverbal acting in this film is some of the best of his career. Don’t ever question this man’s acting chops.

Tom Cruise is taking one of the biggest risks of his career with Digger. The President of Movies, who is showing up at the World Cup on Sunday, is going to be on the Oscar trail this year to help make a run for Best Actor. I think Digger looks spectacular & I have a lot of faith in Cruise. Whether he wins the Oscar? Way too soon to tell.

Born on the Fourth of July nearly won Tom Cruise an Oscar for Best Actor back in 1990, but Cruise ran into the force of nature that is Daniel Day-Lewis, who won for My Left Foot. This is a painful story about the sacrifices veterans make & it’s some of Cruise’s best acting. I think the Cruise-Oliver Stone pairing is interesting in hindsight. 26 years later, Cruise might finally get that Oscar for Digger.

young tom cruise just finished top gun and the first question is whether he is actually going to enlist Jimmy Carter: Okay, well Tom, have you thought about enlisting in the military in the last few days? Tom Cruise: No, no, I haven’t. Tom Cruise: landing on a carrier is frightening to say the least the movie was so convincing they started treating him like a real recruit.
