I uncovered a February 2025 video from Liberal MP Yvan Baker, MP 🇨🇦🇺🇦, who introduced a private member's bill to make July Somalia Heritage Month. He says he has "the privilege of representing one of the largest Somali communities in Canada and one of the largest communities outside Somalia." He also says that he is "ensuring that the Government of Canada does all it can to support the people of Somalia." Baker made this video for the "Restore Somalia Foundation," an organization based in Canada that operates in Somalia. He describes it as a "diaspora organization" like the multiple others he says he assists with. He says: "I'd like to thank the Somali youth from the diaspora, born in Canada, who volunteer through the Restore Somalia Foundation that are taking part in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals. You are our future." He adds: "Your participation also highlights the important role that members of the diaspora and diaspora-led organizations play in building a brighter future for the people of Somalia." Yvan Baker is a Canadian Member of Parliament elected to represent Canadians, yet he appears more focused on representing Somali interests.

Let's ensure that every Albertan knows that Canada loves Alberta, that Canada is Alberta, Alberta is Canada." Sounds like Hallmark card written by that purple haired aunt living in the mountains. Alberta doesn't want anyone wrapping their arms around us. We want to stop being over taxed, red taped and have actual Rights and Freedoms. If other provinces want to help, then they need to stop being dependent on welfare and voting for idiots that gave us a lost decade, mass immigration and ridiculous taxes.

Somalia’s Independence Week kicks off tonight! 🇸🇴 Somalia celebrates its independence starting from June 26, the day the northern regions gained freedom from British rule and the Somali flag was raised for the first time in Hargeisa, to July 1 when the rest of the country was liberated from Italian rule and the Somali Republic was officially born. We also celebrate on June 27 the independence of Djibouti, which we consider part of Somali territory, and we hold on to the hope that one day we will celebrate the independence of the two remaining regions of Greater Somalia on June 28 and 29. This year, Somalia celebrates 65 years since 1960. 💙 Our independence isn’t just about one day, it’s a story told over several days, and a dream that still isn’t fully realized.
