My advice : just install docker desktop, and always ask the Ai to set up your projects in it (it is also a dev container + a service server). It is super convenient. Will have to check again you bid to understand the diff with docker in what you show.

How about no containers? For my personal projects I just need 1 running process. Not even a separate db server since I use SQLite.

Development containers are awesome, especially when you can swap the hardware running your environment without changing a single thing. Apparently, I've been living under a rock because I didn't know about this. I recorded a 3-min video to show you Gitpod Flex running on my laptop. This takes less than 5 minutes to configure and run. Here is a quick summary: 1. One click to run any of my GitHub projects in a container, isolated from everything else. 2. I can use Visual Studio Code, JetBrains, Cursor, or any other IDE that supports development containers. 3. I don't have to mess up with my computer anymore (or have 17 versions of Python installed) ← this alone is awesome! 4. I can spin up a runner in AWS with my dev container and have access to any hardware I want while developing. 5. I can configure one-click buttons to run services and tasks I need every day. 6. I can share the environment with anyone on my team. I left this for the end, but I know this is one of the most important features of Gitpod Flex: They built a zero-trust architecture to manage these development environments. This is huge for those working at companies where security is crucial. Below is the link with an explanation of how they built their architecture. This is the best learning environment you'll find anywhere. I created it using a combination of Google's Project IDX and a custom Visual Studio Code extension I built. Project IDX was one of the best discoveries I made late in 2024. It's an AI-based cloud IDE built by Google. I used it during my last cohort, and it immediately saved me 20-30 hours of troubleshooting other people's environments. The extension I built is the cherry on top here. I'm 100% sure every single student will be spoiled forever after they take my class. I'm beyond excited about this. Classes start in a week.

I recorded a gentle introduction to building RAG applications using open-source models. Prerequisite: You should be comfortable reading Python. I wanted to record a video to introduce as many people as possible to building RAG applications and using Large Language Models. Here, I tried to stay away from complex jargon and break everything down as simple as possible.
