🚨 With this platform China’s security apparatus can track foreigners and anyone deemed “of interest” to the state within the country. Foreign students, foreign spouses of Chinese citizens and even foreign journalists, including The Telegraph’s, were included in the sensitive data points as part of the “Dynamic Control Platform for Foreigners” programme. The data allow the state to instantly track where American, British and other foreign citizens are located within China, who they come into contact with, their past movements and who they regularly associate with. This confirms the nature of China’s intrusive physical and digital surveillance, and raises serious questions about civilian privacy and threats to press freedom. China is ranked third-worst on the World Press Freedom Index, just above North Korea and Eritrea, and is the biggest jailer of journalists with 121 media professionals behind bars. The platform was first discovered by NetAskari, an independent cybersecurity researcher focused on China, and has been shared with and analysed by The Telegraph. “In the Chinese context, it makes sense that they’re tracking journalists who they consider an ‘enemy of the state’, or at least worth keeping an eye on, and that’s been around since the inception of the People’s Republic of China under communist rule.” “They’ve never liked journalists from the get-go. Journalists are seen as just another actor in this big game of controlling the narrative, controlling the minds of the people, controlling the reality of history — because that’s how the party operates; that’s how they think.” A deep dive into the platform, branded with the government’s security insignia, offers a rare look at how Chinese authorities are integrating millions of data points pulled from surveillance cameras, visa details and travel booking apps — amongst other information — to holistically track people. China is quickly transforming into a dystopian authoritarian state after investing over the past two decades in physical and digital surveillance capabilities, creating the world’s largest and most comprehensive security infrastructure. Dissidents and foreign journalists are routinely harassed in China and abroad. Aside from human informants, the government has built a digital dragnet using surveillance cameras that blanket the country. Some cameras pivot to capture entire streets while others are equipped with facial recognition. The government has boasted about these programmes, such as Skynet, launched in 2005, and Sharp Eyes, launched in 2015, aimed at achieving 100 per cent coverage of public areas. The latter programme, called 雪亮 in Chinese, is a reference to Mao Zedong, the chairman, who once said “the people have sharp eyes”. Officials and state media routinely cite these as examples of China’s advanced technological prowess. As far back as 2018, Chinese tech firms were working to develop “gait recognition” software. China now has more than 700 million surveillance cameras — averaging at least one device per two people in the country — to eliminate blind spots in its “grid-style” security monitoring, including in rural and remote areas. China’s fast consumer-technology adoption — from QR-code payments to digital ID scans, which were all already in place a decade ago — also means that the government has collected years’ worth of data. All mobile apps, for instance, whether for booking taxis, ordering takeaway, or digital subway tickets, require real-ID registration. The surveillance dragnet received a further boost during the coronavirus pandemic, when the Chinese state unleashed draconian measures for contact tracing, requiring people to install tracking apps purportedly to gauge potential exposure to Covid. Every Fortune 500 executive is buying AI subscriptions and calling it a strategy. Palantir CEO Alex Karp has a word for that. Karp: “The general approach of just buying models is going to be essentially self-pleasuring for an enterprise at the cost of the enterprise.” Karp: “You buy some large language model, you party with it basically, and the next day you have a hangover.” The entire corporate world is mispricing the AI transition. They are renting intelligence with no foundation to run it on. A raw model floating in a vacuum hallucinates over your unstructured data, generates the illusion of work, and executes nothing. The party ends. The hangover begins. Nothing changed. Karp identified exactly where the value actually goes. Karp: “All the value in the market is going to go to chips and what we call ontology.” Not the models. Not the subscriptions. Not the chatbot interfaces layered on top of them. The ontology. The precise digital architecture of how an organization actually operates. Its security permissions. Its supply chain physics. It’s operational logic. Karp: “The ontology will allow you to take a large language model and use it, refine it, and then impose it on your enterprise in the logic of your enterprise, in the security model of your enterprise.” When you bind a frontier model to the strict underlying logic of a specific enterprise, something fundamental shifts. It stops generating text. It starts generating action. Karp: “We’re using it on the battlefield, we’re using it to compress margins. We’re making engineers better engineers. We’re making people who are not engineers into engineers using our ontology and a large language model.” The traditional engineering bottleneck does not slow down. It disappears. Karp: “We are sitting on the only thing that actually creates quantifiable, transformational value.” The companies renting models are paying for the feeling of transformation. The companies building ontologies are executing the actual thing. One of them will define the next decade. The other will wake up in 2030 wondering where their market share went. A grid of control that can not only monitor your finances and take away your privacy with security cameras, but technology that can literally induce emotions and behaviors and read and write thoughts in real time completely remotely. Through electromagnetic radiation, radio frequency, extremely-low frequency, light technology, 5G, A.I., smart wearable technology, like wireless earbuds, and smartwatches that measures changes in blood flow, etc., there are multiple technologies that they have been working on since the late 1950s that they have already mastered, to new technology that has now incorporated A.I. that can do things which once seemed impossible or of science fiction. The technology is already here and they are already quietly passing laws in an attempt to safe guard you literal brain privacy. Colorado was the first state to introduce such legislation. The WEF also talked about this extensively. This doesn't just allow governments and intel agencies to spy or control you, this also applies to big tech, making you feel a specific emotion when you read a specific political article, or implant an impulse to buy, something, or even do something sinister. These are the new systems of control they are implementing on us. It sounds unreal, but the reality is that it's already here and being used on you and you don't even know it.

MAXimum surveillance: how Russians are being driven into the FSB’s pocket messenger. Starting September 1, the Russian messenger Max will become mandatory for preinstallation on all devices in Russia. But users have already noticed that the app accesses the camera every 5-10 minutes, even when running in the background. In other words, a smartphone turns into a peephole for the security services, switching on without the owner’s knowledge. The developers rushed to explain themselves: supposedly, the camera activates only during video calls. But strangely enough, the camera also works when the app isn’t even open. Without Max, it will be impossible to log into the Gosuslugi government portal. Verification codes will be delivered only through the “state messenger.” Android users complain that Max appears on smartphones by itself, without being downloaded. The reason may be that RuStore is allowed to install third-party programs at its own discretion. Meaning, even a voluntary refusal to install doesn’t guarantee the app won’t end up on every Russian’s smartphone. GitHub experts analyzed the APK file of the “national messenger,” and found that Max collects not only contacts, gender, and age of the user, but also text input history - even if the message wasn’t sent. The app logs the list of all installed applications, tracks location, and can also listen and record audio. In essence, it’s full-fledged spyware disguised as a “citizens’ messenger.” Max does not use end-to-end encryption. This means that all chats and calls are available to the security services in real time. Moreover, the app is initially designed only for Russian and Belarusian phone numbers. Communication with foreign countries is reduced to a minimum. Max is just another brick in the construction of a “sovereign internet,” cut off from the outside world and fully controlled by the state. At the same time, Roskomnadzor announced that “measures are being taken to partially restrict calls” in Telegram and WhatsApp in Russia. The agency explained the “partial blocking” of calls in these messengers as part of the fight against fraudsters. I think that after September 1, it won’t take long before WhatsApp, Telegram, and other foreign messengers are completely blocked in Russia.

On Tuesday, I testified before the House Homeland Security Committee on China's strides in robotics and AI. I warned that we lost solar, batteries, and EVs -- now we're at risk of losing robotics and AI. If that happens, it would irreversibly change the balance of power. Five points: 1️⃣ China aims to win the next industrial revolution. PRC leaders believe history is shaped by industrial revolutions. The first, steam power, made Britain dominant. The second and third, electrification and mass manufacturing, made America dominant. China is determined to win the fourth. 2️⃣ In robotics, China is already winning. In 2024, China installed 300,000 new industrial robots. America installed 30,000. China now has over 2 million robots in its factories — five times more than the US. A decade ago, it imported 75% of its robots. Today it makes 60% domestically. This year alone, China may spend $400 billion on industrial policy. The entire US CHIPS Act provided $50 billion across multiple years. If we fall behind here, U.S. reindustrialization becomes farfetched. 3️⃣ In AI, we're ahead — but selling off the advantage. China has more energy, more talent, and makes the edge devices. But America still leads because of chips, according to China's own AI companies. US chips are 4-5x better than China's today. We are debating whether to surrender that edge. 4️⃣ We are inviting risks of cyberespionage and catastrophic cyberattacks. PRC law requires its companies to cooperate with intelligence services and never disclose it. Today's robots carry LiDAR, microphones, and cameras — they are mobile surveillance platforms. But the bigger risk is cyberattack. We know China has compromised our power, gas, water, telecommunications, and transportation infrastructure in preparation for cyberattack. We cannot deploy robots in sensitive facilities from the very country targeting those facilities. 5️⃣ Here's what we must do. Extend ICTS rules to cover Chinese robots. Direct CISA to audit where they're deployed in critical infrastructure. Ban federal procurement of Chinese robotics and AI. Strengthen semiconductor export controls. Stop treating American AI companies with more regulatory scrutiny than Chinese ones. And build allied scale in robotics—a trading bloc with preferential terms for the members that can rival China's scale in in the sector. Unique footage has emerged showing remote control of interceptor drones. The 190th Training Center of the SBS reportedly used a drone-interceptor to shoot down a Shahed UAV remotely, with the pilot located at a significant distance from the launch site. The system used was LITAVR, developed by FDrones. According to the company, an operator can control the interceptor from hundreds of kilometers away from the launch point. The F7 LITAVR is already a well-known and highly effective system. As a reminder, here are the technical details (this is all open-source information): Development of the system began in autumn 2024. It was successfully tested and officially adopted in summer 2025. Serial production and deliveries to the military started in autumn 2025. Maximum speed: 350 km/h Flight time: up to 15 minutes Equipped with two cameras: daytime and thermal imaging The officially stated tactical range is 36 km, though in practice it can reach up to 60 km and operate at altitudes of up to 9.5 km. The warhead (separately codified) weighs 500 g. Detonation can occur via kinetic impact, self-destruction upon contact with the target, or manual activation by the operator. The system uses inertial guidance without GPS and features automatic terminal guidance (“last mile” / target lock system). At present, it reportedly destroys hundreds of targets per week, including Shaheds, Gerberas, Molniyas, Orlans, Lancets, and others. What is fundamentally new? Until now, mobile air defense fire groups and frontline crews using interceptor drones required a qualified pilot on-site. It has now been successfully demonstrated that a different tactic is possible: pilots can operate from protected, remote locations. China's humanoid robotics market is on fire. With orders expected to top 30,000 units this year—a tenfold jump from 2024's total of less than 3,000—2025 is officially shaping up to be the "Year of Mass Production." This surge, driven by an expansion into new sectors like industrial manufacturing, logistics, and elder care, is reflected in a wave of new deals across the industry. Here's a look at some of the key commercial progress: Astribot: A 1,000-unit order for industrial and logistics deployment over two years. TianTai Robotics: Signed a major 10,000-unit order for caregiving robots. Noetix Robotics : Received over 2,000 intent orders in one month, valued at over 100 million yuan, with a focus on education and commercial performances. AgiBot: Expects to ship thousands of units this year and tens of thousands in 2026. Unitree Robotics: Has orders for thousands of units and is one of the most visible products in the industry. UBTech: Aims to deliver 500 industrial humanoids in 2025, with educational robot orders already exceeding 300 units. Robot Era: Delivered over 300 units by July 2025 with 500 more on hand. TLIBOT: Has around 1,000 intent orders. Galbot: Secured orders for its supermarket security robot, Galbot, in 100 stores. AI² Robotics: Has nearly 500 orders for its general-purpose robots for industrial and public service scenarios. But here’s the crucial reality check. While the order boom is exciting, it doesn't automatically translate to fulfilled deliveries. Many companies lack the production capacity to keep up. A significant portion of these are "intent orders" or framework agreements, not guaranteed sales. Furthermore, the market is heavily B2B-focused, with consumer demand representing only about 5% of sales. Some orders are even symbolic, for public relations or strategic purposes. This “order frenzy” is a starting point, not the finish line. The true test for China's humanoid robot industry isn't who can secure the biggest order, but who can consistently deliver on it and build a stable market for the future.

The situation in Mozambique is, unfortunately, worsening by the hour, with the police now joining in the looting. I once again appeal to African leaders, particularly those in the Southern African Development Community (SADC), to assist the Mozambicans in resolving this post-election political crisis through immediate dialogue. Some regional African leaders are solely focused on business and dismiss the Mozambican crisis as not their immediate concern. However, we must all recognise that business is a dividend of peace, not the other way around. Many businesses are shutting down because there is no peace in Mozambique post the disputed election. The post-election crisis has cost South Africa R10 million a day, according to South Africa’s Road Traffic Association CEO, Gavin Kelly. Tourist bookings have been cancelled in Mozambique, and many foreign and local companies are shutting down. DHL has taken a huge hit forcing it to suspend its daily flight into Maputo because there is no freight at all for it to fly out. Mozambique already faces a terrorist problem in the northern province of Cabo Delgado near the Tanzanian border, which has required Rwanda’s intervention to contain the military insurgency. The last thing the SADC region needs is for this terrorist situation to spread to Maputo taking advantage of the current violence. Maputo is only five hours from Johannesburg and Pretoria and only 180 kilometres from Eswatini’s business and commercial city, Manzini. If the Mozambican police across the country cross the line, as has happened in parts of Maputo, and join the protesters, it would expose the region’s security to significant risk and result in an immigration crisis in South Africa whose border with Mozambique has already been a point of protests. This has resulted in Lebombo port of entry in Mpumalanga between South Africa and Mozambique being shut down. Mozambique’s opposition leader, Venâncio Mondlane, has disputed the October election results, which saw Frelimo’s candidate, Daniel Chapo declared the winner yesterday by the Constitutional Council of Mozambique. Mondlane has declared a five day shutdown of the whole country. I repeat again, the potential spread of terrorism and the risk of a security and immigration crisis in neighboring countries are real concerns that must be addressed IMMEDIATELY. When a country loses control of its police force, that is a slippery security slope not only for itself, but for regional neighbours. Regional leaders should avoid the potential danger of Mozambique sliding back into the kind of civil war that devastated the country in the 1970s, 80s, and early 90s before the Rome peace agreement. It is difficult for the current SADC chairman and Zimbabwean president to take a lead because the Mozambican opposition accuses him of sending Zimbabweans to vote in the election.

Why does Putin need negotiations to resume? In my view, to buy time and prepare for mobilization. Putin doesn’t want to talk - he’s preparing for a blitzkrieg. This is consistent with Russia's negotiating practice: for the Kremlin, negotiations are not a way to reach an agreement or end the war, but a continuation of the war by other means. From Istanbul and Anchorage to the present day, Russia's position has not softened - it has become more hardline. For the Kremlin, every round of negotiations is an opportunity to consolidate new military gains, buy time, and push its demands further. Can Putin be forced into peace? Yes, but only through increased efforts and pressure. The world sees Russia's vulnerabilities, and there is real interest in ending the war. What is needed is coordinated action and sustained pressure. Now, in more detail. The United States has resumed diplomatic contacts with Russia and Ukraine after several months of an effective pause. Marco Rubio met with Lavrov in Manila. Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a phone call with Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. At the same time, U.S. Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker and NATO Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine Commander Lt. Gen. Curtis Buzzard arrived in Kyiv. For now, this is shuttle diplomacy. Washington is separately gathering the positions of Moscow and Kyiv while assessing the possibility of a new trilateral round of talks. After meeting with Lavrov, Rubio said previous diplomatic efforts had failed and that new proposals were needed, since the old ones were unacceptable to Ukraine. This effectively rejects the formula associated with the Trump-Putin summit in Anchorage. Lavrov, by contrast, insisted on returning to the "spirit of Anchorage," demanded an end to arms supplies to Ukraine, and repeated Russia's accusations against Europe. At the same time, the United States continues its defense cooperation with Ukraine. In Kyiv, Whitaker and Buzzard discussed the supply of Patriot interceptors through PURL, licensing Patriot production in Ukraine, and the agreement on Ukrainian drones. Why have negotiations resumed now? Most likely because the United States sees a shift in the conditions of the war. Ukrainian strikes have shown that Russia has a weak spot and that it can, in fact, lose a war of attrition. However, Ukraine is also in a difficult position right now. Russian attacks on Ukrainian ports, merchant vessels, locomotives, and energy sector are limiting Ukraine's food exports and making the coming winter critically difficult - one that Ukraine will be able to endure and hold out only with the support of its allies. The United States may believe there is now a short window favorable for negotiations. Russia is already feeling the effects of Ukrainian strikes on its oil refineries and logistics, while Ukraine has not yet faced the full impact of Russian attacks on its exports, transport, and energy infrastructure ahead of winter. There is also a broader international context. Attacks on merchant vessels and grain ports affect insurance, freight rates, and global food prices. The United States is already facing disruptions to energy logistics because of the war with Iran and restrictions on shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. Washington has an interest in preventing simultaneous crises in global energy and food markets. On September 24, during the UN General Assembly week, Xi Jinping is expected to visit the United States. China is seeking a political role in resolving the war and has economic leverage over Russia. By restoring contacts with Moscow and Kyiv ahead of that visit, Washington is preparing its position: it is better to discuss the global consequences of Russia's war with Beijing while maintaining its own diplomatic track. Finally, the United States has a practical need to reduce the number of simultaneous crises. Washington may be seeking not so much a full-fledged peace agreement as a managed freeze of the war in order to reduce costs and focus on the Middle East and China. #VPDNews: The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) is adding new cutting-edge technologies to help keep the city safe. The new tools enhance frontline officer awareness, strengthen accountability, and build on the Department’s mission to protect public safety while balancing the privacy of both the community and VPD officers. In the air, VPD is the first police agency in Canada to deploy Skydio X10 drones for a Drone as First Responder Program. After extensive testing, six of the remote-piloted drone systems will be deployed. The drones have already been in testing for several weeks and are fully approved by Transport Canada. “The potential of the Skydio drone systems in our work is impressive for many reasons, not least of which is they will be able to link with our body-worn cameras,” said Inspector Wade Rodrigue, with the VPD’s Force Options Training Section. “For example, if an officer is in trouble, perhaps being assaulted, they can tap their camera three times which will automatically deploy a Skydio drone to their exact location at the direction of the pilot in command. Pilots can also fly the drones to a crime in progress, arrive first, and send their video feeds to responding officers on the ground as well as the Operations Command Center (OCC). That gives us better intel on what’s happening and can help responding officers to pursue suspects who may try and evade them.” The VPD will continue to adhere to its posted policyand procedures as well as those prescribed by Transport Canada and Nav Canada with respect to the operation of Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) assets. The weatherproof Skydio drone launch/landing pods are installed on rooftops at strategic locations throughout Vancouver, including the VPD’s Tactical Training Centre. The drones will only record video when that function is activated by a pilot, and only when appropriate as per policy. Body-worn cameras are also expanding in function. The Axon body cameras used by VPD now have the ability to translate language in real time with Axon Assistant, allowing officers to understand at the push of a button whatever is being said to them in over 50 languages, and to have their reply translated into the language recognized as being spoken. Real-Time Translation adds to VPD’s current translation offerings and will be used when a quick translation is needed. “When you consider how multicultural Vancouver is, this translation ability is a game-changer,” said Sergeant Dermot O’Boyle. “We want to be able to help everyone in our city, including those who may not be fluent in English. Being able to understand what they’re telling us is a critical first step to getting them the help they need.” Body-worn camera footage can also now be live-streamed to the VPD’s Operations Command Centre so personnel there can see what the officer is seeing and dispatch additional resources as needed. This can be done at the officer’s request or based on the priority of the call when an urgent situation is developing. In addition, Axon’s real-time operations platform, Fusus, improves visibility and coordination across responding units and partner agencies by enabling Operations Centre personnel to view RPAS and body-worn camera video according to pre-determined operating protocols. Other new tools entering service include: ➡️ 73 Fleet 3 in-car video systems with automated license plate recognition cameras (ALPR) across the VPD fleet, helping officers spot vehicles of interest faster which are already proving effective, with one ALPR-equipped cruiser flagging 22 uninsured vehicles in just three hours ➡️ Holsters for conducted energy weapons and service weapons that automatically activate body-worn cameras when drawn, capturing critical moments right away “Combined, these technologies create a system that helps improve decision-making, response times, and overall public safety in Vancouver,” said Kevin Bernardin, Superintendent of Innovation and Technology at the VPD. All are designed with responsible AI and data use at their core, with safeguards for secure data handling, controlled access, and auditability. Russia has devised a new way to exploit African countries - actively using the continent as a testing ground for building an alternative financial system based on cryptocurrencies. As of April 2026, this has become a key tool for bypassing international sanctions and conducting transactions outside SWIFT. The A7 platform is linked to Ilan Shor - a fugitive convicted in Moldova for his role in the $1 billion banking fraud - and to Russia’s state-owned Promsvyazbank (PSB), which services the country’s defense sector. Shor is a fraudster: in 2014-2015, around $1 billion - roughly 12% of Moldova’s GDP - disappeared from three Moldovan banks, and he was sentenced to 15 years in prison. It appears that Russia sees his "skills" as useful for extracting money from citizens of African countries. The A7 crypto payment network: ▪️ A project controlled by the sanctioned Russian Promsvyazbank. Offices have already been opened in Nigeria, with plans to launch a branch in Zimbabwe and active recruitment underway in Togo. ▪️ Instruments. Transactions are conducted using ruble-pegged stablecoins and digital debt instruments. ▪️ Commodities for crypto. Cryptocurrencies are used to pay for exports of Russian goods and imports of African raw materials (gold, uranium, diamonds). This allows Russian companies to repatriate revenue without attracting the attention of Western regulators. ▪️ Sanctions evasion. In 2025, the volume of crypto transactions used to bypass sanctions (including by Russia, Iran, and North Korea) increased by 700%, exceeding $100 billion. Russia talks about "Russia-Africa partnership," but in reality behaves like a predator. ▪️ People. Exploitation of human resources. Russia is using Africa as a reservoir of cheap and vulnerable labor. This is a large-scale scheme. According to Ukrainian data, more than 1,780 Africans are fighting in the Russian army. Reuters has reported separately on over 1,000 recruited Kenyans. South Africa officially confirmed 17 of its citizens involved in the scheme, with 11 expected to return home, while Cameroon has already confirmed 16 fatalities. Russia is also bringing in cheap labor from African countries for its defense sector. An AP investigation found that around 200 young women from Africa, aged 18-22, were brought to the Alabuga special economic zone in Tatarstan. They were recruited through advertisements for "education" and "jobs," but ended up assembling strike drones used against Ukraine. ▪️ Gold and minerals. Russia supplies weapons and "regime security" to African governments in exchange for deposits, concessions, and long-term mineral contracts. OFAC has reported that Wagner-linked entities profited from illegal resource extraction in the Central African Republic. The company Midas had access to the Ndassima gold mine, with reserves exceeding $1 billion, and, together with Wagner, prevented CAR government officials from inspecting the site. ▪️ Control over financial flows. Russia is seeking not only control over mining, but also over processing and export hubs. Reuters reported that Mali has begun construction of a Russian-backed gold refinery with a capacity of 200 tons per year, in partnership with Russia’s Yadran Group. This suggests that Moscow aims to control not just extraction, but also refining, accounting, logistics, and sales. Russia claims it is "helping Africa." Where is the ostrich farm now, two months after the CFIA slaughter? It's been 60 days since the Canadian Food Inspection Agency carried out a slaughter of ostriches at a B.C. farm. Katie Pasitney (Universal Ostrich Farms), daughter of the farm's co-owner, describes the emotional toll, lingering restrictions, damaged property and unanswered questions following the federal government's slaughter of a healthy flock. It has been two months since the Canadian Food Inspection Agency massacred hundreds of healthy ostriches in Edgewood, British Columbia under the banner of “protecting” public and animal health from a virus that passed through the herd a year earlier. In today’s report, we hear from Katie Pasitney, the adult daughter of farm co-owner Karen Esperson and farm helper to get on update on the aftermath to the devastating blow to the families pursuit to save their flock and farming security. “There’s no handbook on it,” Pasitney told Rebel News when reflecting what it was like for the family in the weeks following the slaughter. “You go through adrenaline for a year trying to protect animals that you can see and that you can touch, and then all of a sudden they’re not there anymore.” According to Pasitney, the loss has reshaped daily life in ways that are still difficult to process. She said the absence of the flock, and the routine that came with caring for them, remains one of the hardest burdens to bear. The physical aftermath of the operation has only compounded that trauma. Pasitney said the CFIA left behind what she described as a scene of destruction: hay bales torn apart and scattered across the fields, shell casings mixed into the straw, and security cameras damaged or rendered unusable. Despite the avian-flu-recovered birds being gone, Pasitney said the farm is still officially considered under quarantine until May, a designation the family rejects outright. She characterized the ongoing restrictions not as a public-health measure, but as punishment. “The world knows this wasn’t about a viral threat,” she told Rebel News. “This was about a theatrical display of punishment for using our voices.” Pasitney also addressed concerns raised by viewers who watched Rebel News’ live coverage, particularly the obstruction and apparent damage to the farm’s security cameras. She said they confirmed that some of the cameras the farm installed to monitor predators and protect the herd and property were damaged by the CFIA when the agency obstructed them. Financially, the fallout continues. Pasitney acknowledged that despite lengthy court battles and mounting legal costs, the farm has received no compensation and has had no meaningful communication suggesting compensation is forthcoming. What has been disclosed, she noted, is how much taxpayer money was spent to destroy the flock; not how the farmers will be made whole. Looking ahead, Pasitney said the family is focused on accountability and reform. She described 2026 as a year dedicated to ensuring what happened at Universal Ostrich Farms in Edgewood does not happen again — not just for ostrich farmers, but for anyone involved in Canadian agriculture. The farm is now working toward developing a new framework aimed at calling on the government to protect farmers, encouraging innovation, and ensuring those who work in agriculture have a seat at the table when life-altering decisions are made.
