Trees and power lines down across the Scituate/Foster area as storms continue to roll through. Came across this large tree blocking Rt 116 near Old Scituate Ave while I was trying to get to another scene. Nobody injured here. Scituate PD and FD now blocking the road. WPRI 12

@wpri12 It appears that the storm knocked out power to the whole state. The “power outage map” is down too. I got a message by contacting Rhode Island Energy, that they are working on the problem, and the power will be restored today in my area in Rumford.

Another was an avocado tree that was 10 years old Their HOA came and chainsawed the trees down and removed them It looks like because the trees were in a more common location and not directly on the property, the HOA had authority to come and cut them down, and they did This is why nobody likes HOAs

I'm currently without grid power (running on solar) in Pennsylvania where thunderstorms last night ripped through the area. There was almost a shockwave like impact when they first arrived. 1" of rain in ~20 minutes, lightning strikes over the area and tons of cloud to cloud discharges. This is the biggest tree I found that came down, directly on a large sweep of lines. Power is expected to be restored Tuesday or Wednesday... Tens of thousands are without power. There are localized zones where huge trees came down, thick healthy branches twisted and ripped off, and power lines are down all over. Four BIG trees down just in the 2 blocks around where I am clearly in a rough alignment, almost like a mini tornado swept through... This morning I did an extensive survey of the area, some areas were unaffected, others look like war zones. I'll do my best to release an update on this but the solar system i'm running off of is limited in capability.

NOW: a suspect has been hit by a driver while attempting to run across DC-295 after a federal police chase ended in Washington DC 🚨 At around 11:20pm, US Park Police attempted to stop the driver of a Nissan sedan for reckless driving near Sheriff Road and Eastern Ave at the Washington DC/Maryland line. The suspect took off, at which point USPP officers initiated a pursuit. The suspect then wrecked into a tree on Kenilworth Ave NE, (which runs along the highway) at which point he ran across the highway and was struck by a uninvolved driver on the northbound lanes of DC-295 prior to Eastern Ave. The male has been transported by DC Fire and EMS with injuries described as non-life threatening, although reportedly serious. The civilian driver was not injured and remained on scene. US Park Police’s EAGLE 🚁 assisted from above, as well as other federal law enforcement officers from the FBI. (ON-SCENE REPORT) #DCCrime

The first thing that came to mind for me was 'here we go again', another road rage beat down, cops will come and people will get arrested. Not in this case. He recorded another person's emotional meltdown, while having to wait for children to cross the street in a school zone. Adding his thoughts to the scene after the incident was over, was worth my time.

Popped out on the quad to change so e camera batteries and came across this chap blocking our way. He was squaring up to the quad so I switched off and got off - I think he just wanted a chat - remarkably tame. I've never seen those colourings in the wild before.
