The average human cell contains: ~ 15-20 total distinct organelle types, totalling between ~1-10 million working together per cell. Here is what they found is the absolute necessary minimal requirements of a cell to function: - Over ~531,000 lines of coded DNA information - 473 total genes to create hundreds of unique protein products (they later added 19 genes back in because the cell was so weak) - Hundreds of thousands of total proteins all working together - Extensive regulatory networks guiding all these interactions If the cell doesn't have all these systems in place, from the start... it doesn't live. Cell rely on an intricate network of complex systems, which are themselves built from complex interconnected pieces woven together into an incomprehensibly complex web of functionilty. We took a short drive on the road along the river by our home this morning. As you can see, a bit overgrown due to cattle! This is exact same land on which we used to be able to see a herd of impala at 200 meters at this time of year, in the days before we began managing holistically. Now we could not see one at one meter. And this is what we are seeing following now over twenty years of poor rainfall. The river this year already drier than ever known. If only…….

Today, we are working in Denmark at the European Political Community Summit. I began our work by meeting with Prime Minister of Denmark Mette Frederiksen Statsministeriet. The recent incursions into the airspace of Denmark, Poland, Romania, Norway, and Estonia were a key focus. Russia is escalating, and we discussed how we can respond to these threats. We have repeatedly proposed creating a joint, integrated air defense system. The expertise of Ukrainian professionals and Ukrainian technologies must become an important part of the EU’s Drone Wall initiative. Right now, a strong group of Ukrainian servicemembers is in Denmark, helping Danish colleagues. A team of Ukrainian experts is working in Qatar, sharing our experience and expertise. I met with our team here today and received a briefing on their work. Our experts have already conducted an overall assessment of the security situation, Qatar’s capabilities to counter aerial threats, and have developed concrete solutions to strengthen the protection of its airspace. And today, during my meeting with the Amir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, it was important for me to hear such a high assessment of our team’s work and appreciation for their consultations. Ballistic missile and drone attacks are currently the biggest challenge here in the region. And while only air defense systems can effectively counter ballistic threats, in Ukraine, we have developed other, significantly more cost-effective solutions to combat drones. These solutions have already proven their effectiveness against various types of drones, which is why Qatar is so interested in our experience. Ukraine has always said that we are ready to share our expertise and help those who can also help us strengthen our own protection in Ukraine. A sneak peak of a complex and technically challenging experiment that my lab developed: Super proud of PhD candidate Hannah Johnson for showcasing our Whole-gut spatial genomic analysis in #zebrafish. This video illustrates one landmark in the protocol after multiple rounds of sequential #HCR and 3D imaging in zebrafish larvae to reveal spatial expression of numerous mRNAs in the same specimen. Data from these imaging data sets are then computationally analyzed for spatial cell groups, spatially variable genes, and differentially expressed genes along 3D. We are leveraging this systems-level SGA to uncover unappreciated mechanistic insight at the cell and tissue levels into #ENS construction. The oppressed Nigerians must organize to form a force against the ruiners of Nigeria and take back our country to have a system that is for the benefit of the Nigerian people and not a few in the position of power. President will come and go, only the people will remain. Don't give those in power today to play politics with your future. Let's unite, not necessary as one but as a team. It’s more than a little daunting to set out to expand and improve the identity system for a company and brand like Stripe. But we knew we had to — the existing one had served us well, but wasn’t up to the task anymore. Our brand system required new and improved tools to scale with our ever growing audiences, new products, global footprint, and more. This update introduces material improvements to infographics, advertising, type styles, and more. While the wordmark remains unchanged, we’re using the dot of the ‘i’ (called the “tittle”), a parallelogram pointing up and to the right, to serve as our identifying symbol. We’re also using it as an ever evolving storytelling device to use when talking about our many great users (you can see the latest brand campaign in SF and NYC doing just that). Anyone who has ever worked on the refresh and expansion of an existing system for a large company knows that it is no small endeavor. Crafting impactful solutions, building alignment, creating extensible guidelines, building toolkits, and orchestrating rollout requires a ton of resilience. Here’s to the team that continually inspires me with their dedication, rigor, taste, and exceptional vibes. Great work and thank you to the Brand Studio folks, and of course our many many amazing and invaluable friends and collaborators across the company who all helped shape the work. And a special thank you to a handful of creative agencies that helped us along the way.

The Sabotaging Practice of Over Supply and Sameness in the NFT Space. The current zeitgeist of the NFT space is that the same artists are doing the same kind of work five times a year, with project after project leaving a trail of disappointment and discontent among collectors and all of us watching in disbelief as huge resources are extracted from the space over work that feels like it could be left as an "artist study." I understand that you can do what you want with your money as collectors, but we are killing the whole space with this incestuous practice. No artist is that prolific to be able to do 5 collections of 100+ pieces each every year and actually deliver innovation and some kind of creative evolution. Of course, they can pretend play that the work has something new, but there is no precedent nor proof that that has ever happened in the speed that it happens in the NFT space. Again, people are free to through away their resources on whatever they want but with this way of doing things, we more and more are going to start seeing the consequences. Oh! There are consequences? Yes. Maybe unintended, but there are. Let's see. Let's start with the loss of belief in the NFT space as somewhere where emerging artists can come and find support for their experiments. Why even bother to bring experiments, innovation, and new ways to think of art on the blockchain if the same people have all the collectors hypnotized with their magical flutes? Why even try to come to a space where taking risks and challenging the status quo (the mission of art!!!) is overlooked? This makes the NFT space a social club and not a space for art. I guess it is fine, but IMO it is a recipe for disaster. New collectors stay away because the art will slowly but surely become stale and un-challenging. Why even bother to come and see what is happening here if you can't, as a collector, see new weird and up-and-coming artists? The amount of noise emitted by the same artists doing the same art over and over, drowns out any new voices. Again. A recipe for disaster. The NFT space is becoming a space of disappointment and doubt. We think that collections going to zero one after the other, over and over, is not damaging? I feel we are kidding ourselves. Disappointment piles up, and again, the people who will hurt are the emerging artists, the new blood, the ones who are willing to risk the most and, in return, put fire in this cold space of sameness. I love this space—don't get me wrong—it has changed my life, and I believe it has a ton of potential, but things need to change for it to become a beacon of light in art. But we need to support new voices. We need to support new ideas. The challenge is huge. I hope to contribute all I can to this change. I hope more and more see how exciting it is to go out and try to discover what else is out there and move this space forward.
