Another El Niño Record! Watch as heat “back ups” at the end. The heat building below the surface, which fuels the strength of El Niño, is higher than it’s ever been measured. This animation shows the heat just below the Tropical Pacific Ocean, moving from the West Pacific Warm Pool where it’s stored, to the East Pacific Surface where El Niño forms. Notice how at the end of the movie there’s a “heat backup” - like a traffic jam. That means there’s a lot more heat waiting under the surface to intensify our current El Niño event. It lends more evidence that this will be the strongest El Niño on record, and may end up reaching the high-end model scenarios. We’re already seeing the impacts: from a quiet Atlantic hurricane season, to an already invigorated subtropical jet stream with heavy rain along the #Gulf Coast, to big heat waves around the Globe. El Nino & IOD Update (Greater Horn of #Africa): About 1,800KM off the East African coastline, a peculiar tropical disturbance has been trying to spin off into a tropical cyclone in the Western Indian Ocean since last week, complete with a cluster of thunderstorm cells. It won't amount to anything much for now due to the equatorial coriolis force & the strong West Indian Ocean Monsoon winds. However, the low pressure system accompanying it appears to be pulling in strong lower atmosphere easterly winds from the Eastern Indian Ocean off the coast of Sumatra north West of Australia. These winds are seemingly strengthening as we head into Sept & could be a major booster to the development of a +ve Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) as warm waters are pushed towards the Horn of Africa. It will be interesting to see the IOD Mode indices in the coming weeks. The ocean-atmosphere coupling is quite strong across the globe as El Nino continues to intensify in the Pacific. A coincidence of a strong El Nino & +ve IOD phase is expected to bring extremely wet conditions over the Greater Horn of Africa in the forthcoming rainy season.

Monday August 24, 2026, 1:40 PM: Latest EU1 and 0Z show an uptick in eastern Pacific hurricane activity September 2 - 9, 2026 as an area low-latitude strong low-pressure axis off the coast of Central and Northern California and a tropical system moving northward trajectory from Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. potentially bring moisture in the desert southwest and Southern California is still up for grabs. More details are still being looked at this upcoming week and early next week for more updates to come. Again as I said before multiple times during this summer 2026. The best time for tropical activity in tandem with a strong monsoonal easterly wave is late August to early October is the best time to see the atmospheric alignment come into play with a strong El Nino. Remember the peak of hurricane season from August 26 through September 15, 2026. I'm watching the next 24 - 48 hours on this weather situation. Monday, July 27, 2026, 5:33 AM PDT/ 8:33 AM EDT: Hurricane Genevieve has become the most powerful storm on Earth, currently with sustained winds of 160 miles per hour. It is currently located 545 miles south of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, and is moving west-northwest at 13 miles an hour with this latest update. This eastern Pacific hurricane season, many months ago, was warned as a harbinger for major concern due to the strong progressive intensification, strong El Niño, and ongoing marine heat wave, which is a prime example of how the weather conditions were ready for a sudden rapid intensification process from a mere tropical storm to an unforgiving category five in less than 24 hours. Current sea surface temperatures range from 86°F to 94°F for optimal strength and little to no shearing in the mid levels and upper levels of the atmosphere to let the storm continue to plow through the eastern Pacific like an ox. #CAwx #AZwx #Genevieve #Cabo #ElNiño

Sunday, July 26, 2026, 7:33 AM: Due to the consistently strong southeasterly flow around the main monsoonal high-pressure axis that’s over eastern Utah and Western Colorado, it has been slowly pushing its westward trajectory in the last 72 hours. This is allowing for a significant embedded robust easterly inverted trough in combination with the peripheral might of Genevieve, which continues to strengthen as the strongest hurricane so far this year in the eastern Pacific region. Hurricane Genevieve is now a Category 3 storm. The tropical system is approximately 300 miles south of Cabo San Lucas; the axis symmetry is allowing for northward tropical moisture into Southern California, bringing tropical showers into San Diego to Santa Barbara today. In fact, there’s been some rain in Oceanside and downtown San Diego in the last three hours. In the 1982-83 event 77% of the penguin population did not survive. 97% of the shallow water coral perished. 🚨#BREAKING MAJOR HURRICANE expected to FORM in the ATLANTIC over the next week or so! 🤯 Its been a semi SLOW start to the season but IF these models stay true we WILL be seeing Hurricanes in NO TIME! Anything after 5 days is a coin flip but THIS is significant! We have not had a SINGLE Hurricane yet this year and again IF these models stay as is we may see our first Hurricane this year as a "MAJOR Hurricane!" This particular model has PLENTY of time to change. The point here is to show how the ocean temps and conditions that are now changing and supporting the formation to tropical cyclones! HAVE A PLAN BEFORE ITS TO LATE!

Jaw-dropping satellite and radar imagery of Super Typhoon Bavi as it barrels toward the southern portion of the Mariana Islands, including Guam. Notice on radar the abundance of tornadic supercells in the western semicircle of the storm...this is quite unusual for a Northern Hemisphere tropical cyclone, as they're usually found in the eastern semicircle.

Today in Ivano-Frankivsk, the final stage of selection for the national Tysiachovesna initiative is taking place. A total of 1,227 projects made it to the final. That is an amazing number. And this number proves that all of our Ukrainian art can become an even greater force. The results of the first Tysiachovesna will now be extremely important: which projects will be created with state support, how they will be received by Ukrainian viewers, listeners, and all our people – the people Tysiachovesna is for. Will Ukrainians in general be interested in this? Will this become a strong voice for Ukraine in the world? This is very important to us, especially in wartime. I believe we will succeed. And exactly one year from now, we will not only be summing up the dry statistics of the first Tysiachovesna through projects that have already been brought to life – we will be talking about the triumphs of our cinema, animation, theater, music, and all of our Ukrainian art, which is here to stay. To be successful, high-quality, and popular among all Ukrainians. This is an important goal for which Tysiachovesna was launched and which it will continue to pursue in the years ahead.
