Social media is awash with potholes of every design, size, the beautiful and ugly ones, the deep and shallow ones, the wide and narrow ones-- they are all in our capital City. What's happening in Kampala? Attempts to fill potholes with soils have only worsened the situation. Navigating through some of these giant potholes is a nightmare especially ambulances carrying pregnant women. I have therefore, directed the Minister for Kampala to bring a statement on Tuesday, explaining how much money KCCA has received for road construction and maintenance for the last three years.

Girl Student’s Clip Exposes Bengaluru’s Broken Roads, Missed Classes and Injuries Today morning, Bengaluru witnessed yet shocking incident: a school bus toppled over on the Panathur–Balagere stretch. The reason? Our “world-class” roads riddled with potholes, craters, and poor maintenance. Fortunately, the students managed to escape through the back door, but the incident could have been far worse. Soon after, a video surfaced from another group of students travelling in their own school bus. In it, they spoke about the deplorable condition of Bengaluru’s roads and the ordeal they go through every single day. According to them, they spend more time bouncing around in buses than sitting in classrooms, thanks to endless traffic jams and delayed schedules. Their extracurricular activities are postponed, their study time is cut short, and their safety is constantly at risk. The irony? If roads can be repaired overnight for VIP movement, surely they can be repaired in two weeks for the common people of Bengaluru. Give us a safe race. The roads are so bad that you basically need 4WD to make it to where you're going without blowing a tire.

Seeing youths drunk, falling on the streets, fighting, abusing others, and creating nuisance in public spaces is shameful and unacceptable.Bengaluru has always been known for its culture, civility, and inclusive values. Our city respects and welcomes people from every state and every background who come here to work hard, build their careers, and live peacefully. That openness and mutual respect are what make Bengaluru truly great. However, in the name of celebration, some individuals are ruining this spirit and giving our city a bad image.Celebration does not mean losing self-control. Enjoyment does not give anyone the right to block roads, create fear, disrespect women, damage public property, or disturb others who simply want to live in peace. Such behaviour projects a wrong and ugly image of Bengaluru, not only to locals but also to people across the country and the world. It unfairly puts a bad face on our culture, which has always stood for respect, harmony, and dignity.Those who behave irresponsibly must understand that culture is reflected in conduct, not in loud music, alcohol, or viral videos. No matter whether the Chief Minister changes or not, the condition of Bengaluru's roads seems to remain the same. Just look at the state of this road. Thousands of citizens use this stretch every day for their daily commute, yet it has been reduced to what looks more like an off-road track than a city road. The entire stretch is filled with craters, broken surfaces, loose gravel, and missing tar. Driving here is not only uncomfortable but also dangerous for motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians alike. During rains, these potholes become even more hazardous, increasing the risk of accidents and vehicle damage. Citizens continue to pay taxes, road tax, fuel tax, and various other levies with the expectation of receiving basic infrastructure and safe roads. But looking at conditions like these, one question naturally arises: Where is the taxpayers' money going? Bengaluru deserves better.
