We are closer to peace than ever during the war, but at the same time we cannot be sure whether Russia is ready for peace. Peace is most often a compromise, and we must prepare for the fact that all parts of a peace agreement will likely not meet our sense of justice. Russia is trying to make the war seem like the “new normal.” We must never put up with this.
