Today, my meeting with the President of Romania, Nicușor Dan, focused primarily on strengthening the energy and economic capacities of both our nations so that together we can do more for the national security of our states. We are working to expand cross-border energy cooperation – building two new power transmission lines with Romania. Equally important is our ability to pursue projects together in resource extraction on the Black Sea shelf. Today, we also discussed projects in the oil and gas sector that can support us now, including in light of the challenges related to the Middle East. We reviewed opportunities for transporting American LNG to Ukraine via Romania. We are also working to open new border crossing points – and this will be achieved already this summer. I thank Romania for its principled position throughout all these years of Russia’s full-scale war. Ukraine and Romania are natural strategic partners. The geography of our region, the security challenges we face, and the economic needs of our peoples all point to one conclusion: cooperation between us must only grow stronger.

A principled statement of support from the Prime Minister and an important decision: today, in our presence, Ukraine and the United Kingdom signed a Loan Agreement. This loan will enhance Ukraine’s defense capabilities and will be repaid using revenues from frozen Russian assets. The funds will be directed toward weapons production in Ukraine. This is true justice – the one who started the war must be the one to pay. I thank the people and government of the United Kingdom for their tremendous support from the very beginning of this war. Finally! Canada will be taking steps to plan to double our electricity grid. Mark Carney: "Our objective is to more than double the size of Canada's electricity grid...and deliver more affordable power to Canadians." This is something I've been calling for. Canada's industrial economic expansion is constraint by our power grid. One of the most important projects that will be happening is the power line expansion is North West BC, which will also be all local industries. We need to do it ASAP.

Today, the Commander of the Air Forces reported on the operations of our fire teams, the downing of "Shahed" drones, and countering Russian missiles. We can now say that our air defense has been strengthened. The German Patriot system has arrived in Ukraine, and I extend my gratitude to Germany and the United States for this step. We will be able to do more in the skies. While much work remains ahead and this is far from guaranteed protection, nonetheless, it means more power for Ukraine.

It is also clearer than ever that the future of Slovakia’s energy sector must be closely linked to the development of nuclear energy, in which Slovakia ranks among the most significant players. I am proud that Slovaks were able to clearly see into the future and did not succumb to pressure to phase out nuclear energy. On the contrary, we rejected utopian ideas and worked on further projects. We are not resting on our laurels and we are moving forward. Only in this way can we secure Slovakia’s strategic needs for the coming decades.

General Hnatov and representatives of Ukraine’s defense and security sector will be working on the details of security guarantees for Ukraine, for Ukrainians. At the same time, Ukrainian government officials continue discussions with the United States and Europe on the real recovery and real development of Ukraine after the war. Most importantly, I will be meeting with envoys of President Trump, and there will also be meetings with our European partners, with many leaders, concerning the foundation of peace – a political agreement to end the war. The chance is considerable at this moment, and it matters for our every city, for our every Ukrainian community. We are working to ensure that peace for Ukraine is dignified, and to secure a guarantee – a guarantee, above all, that Russia will not return to Ukraine for a third invasion. I thank all partners who are helping us – helping Ukraine.
