Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence has published data on the War&Sanctions portal about a new modification of Russia’s Geran-4 jet-powered drones, which Russians began using this autumn. A range of new components has been identified: ▪️ The Geran-4 contains a new MOX unit based on the U.S.-made PNI5GA high-precision magnetometer from...

Lousy news: Russia has started using special munitions to destroy high-voltage pylons and metal bridges — Zelensky's advisor 🤡😂 ➖"Today, the Russians used a special munition—a shaped-charge cutting munition (KRSN)—on a jet-powered UAV [in Kiev] for the first time," stated Serhiy "Flash" Beskrestnov. ▪️This type of munition was designed specifically to destroy high-voltage pylons and metal bridge structures. ▪️The KRSN consists of a main warhead weighing 40 kg and four strike modules. ▪️I think the Russians plan to attack critical high-voltage power transmission lines." How Russia’s Geran-5 drone becoming nightmare for Ukraine’s air defenses The Geran-5 jet-powered attack drone can already be compared to a cruise missile in terms of its effective performance, military expert Evgeny Mikhailov told Sputnik, commenting on Russia’s continuing increased production of such UAVs. He stated that the Geran-5 is a domestically made and relatively inexpensive drone, which has great potential for destroying enemy targets: “...the Geran-5 is a strike drone that is extremely difficult to intercept, especially given the current regrettable state of Ukraine’s air defenses...” It is the Geran-5’s speed, massive warhead, and a certain degree of invulnerability that makes the drone “a serious strike component of the Russian armed forces,” Mikhailov said. BREAKING: A major explosion followed by apparent secondary detonations has been observed near the M06 Zhytomyr Highway in the Bucha district of Ukraine's Kyiv region due to a suspected Russian one way attack drone strike. Footage from the scene shows a massive fireball, a powerful shockwave, flying debris, and what appears to be ammunition cooking off. Multiple accounts claim that a Russian Geran-4 jet-powered one-way attack drone struck an ammunition depot at the location. However, neither the Geran-4 attribution nor the identification of the site as an ammunition depot has yet been independently confirmed.

According to reports, the Russians started employing a modified version of the Geran-4 jet-powered one-way attack drone destined for strikes against Ukraine's high-voltage power transmission lines. The Geran OWA-UAV was equipped with a special shaped-charge cutting warhead that focuses blast energy along a precise line to slice through metal structures, such as high-voltage pylons. The warhead is said to be made up of a 40kg main charge and four strike modules. The move indicates Russia's intentions of further escalating the attacks against Ukrainian power grid as the winter approaches.

A new stage of the war. Russia has started striking Ukrainian bridges with jet-powered drones. In particular, Russia carried out several strikes on the Southern Bridge across the Dnipro - one of the key transport arteries not only of Kyiv but of Ukraine as a whole, through which cargo moves from the right bank of Ukraine to the left bank and back. Everyday life in Ukrainian cities critically depends on bridges. The Southern Bridge, which the enemy has begun attacking, connects the left and right banks of Kyiv. Cars and trains of the green metro line run across it. During the first attack a passenger train was crossing the bridge. Repeated strikes on the bridge have serious consequences for Kyiv residents, who largely depend on public transport. The effects of the strikes were felt immediately: metro and surface transport were halted, specialists urgently inspected the bridge, and passengers had to look for alternative routes - which is extremely difficult. Since the beginning of the war the Russians have repeatedly attacked bridges. Previously, however, the strikes rarely produced results because Russia lacked the necessary means. Large bridges in Ukraine are capital structures built to withstand missile and bomb strikes. To destroy such a bridge or inflict any significant damage on it requires dozens of missiles, not all of which would reach the target. The older version of the Shaheds was also useless. The situation has now changed because Russia has acquired jet-powered "Geran" 4/5 drones, which Ukrainian air defense still struggles to shoot down. These Gerans have increased guidance accuracy. These UAVs can attack using ultra-precise coordinates. This means Russian drones can now strike bridges more accurately, hitting their weak points. Jet-powered drones alone are unlikely to bring down an entire bridge, but through regular strikes they can damage the supports and block traffic. The Russians are not only switching to jet-powered drones - they are also beginning to test autonomous swarms and AI. This is not yet a proven combat system, but it is the predicted next step. Thus Russia has moved to a new level of warfare - a regime of constant drone pressure that it can sustain for a long time. Today it is necessary to reduce Russia's ability to produce drones - through sanctions and restrictions on the supply of critical components - and to strike Russian military production and launch facilities. Whatever is still launched must be intercepted by the cheapest possible means. Russian drones must be stopped before they are even launched.

🇮🇷🇷🇺🇺🇦 Russia's knockoff of Iran's own drone is apparently so good that Tehran came shopping. The Geran started as a copy of Iran's Shahed, and Western security officials say Tehran asked Moscow this year for the advanced versions to use in its war with Israel and the U.S. Ukraine is finding out why the hard way. Kyiv is intercepting only about 60% of the new jet-powered Geran-4 and Geran-5, compared with the 90 to 95% it routinely manages against older models. The Geran-5 flies at up to 600 km/h with a 90 kg warhead and a 1,000 km range, which puts it closer to a cruise missile than a drone. Newer versions also carry thermal cameras and AI-powered targeting. Russia mass-produces them and fixes problems on the fly instead of going through years of testing, and they still cost a fraction of the cruise missiles Moscow used to rely on. Zelensky says 67 Ukrainian companies are working on ways to shoot them down. For most of this war, Ukraine was the one setting the pace on drones, and now it's the one playing catch-up. In Germany, after more than four years of war in Europe and daily Russian spy drones, the current debate is about who is responsible for countering drones: the police, the army, gardeners, caretakers, or no one. Meanwhile in China: China has developed a new acoustic-optical system for countering UAVs. The Chinese company Beijing Ribri Technology has unveiled an integrated drone defense system. The system operates using a multi-stage algorithm: acoustic sensors detect the sound of an approaching drone, artificial intelligence recognizes and identifies the target, and thermal imaging cameras and laser rangefinders determine the precise coordinates and lock onto the object for continued tracking. Once the object is acquired, the system initiates targeted jamming, causing the drone to lose control and either make a forced landing or crash to the ground.
