@umichbaseball I’d rather listen to Carlos Pena. By the time a 1B basemen adjusts his feet to a hard throw, they can trip over the bag. Just square your body to where the ball is coming and adjust to the throw without tripping over the bag.

So now, as a result, the question has to be asked (from a technical standpoint) … Do we go back to straddling the bag to make the tag, if the throw is online? The hardest part of receiving a throw (in front of the bag), even when you let the ball travel to the glove, is reaching the far backside of the base with a tag. Now…If you can’t adjust your feet at all in front of the base, straddle might become the best option?
