Universal Basic Income is a horrible idea because it incentivizes laziness. She’s wrong, if someone pays you not to work, there’s no reason to contribute to society at all.

Neguse: If you did not intend to increase income taxes then you would not have needed to include a waiver of that rule. House rules are very clear that any income tax increase requires 3/5 support of the full house. If you want to increase income taxes, you have to get 3/5 of the house to support it. You all decided you do not want that rule to apply to this bill. The only reason why you would do so is because you know your bill does in fact increase income taxes.

She actually believes that under socialism that her simply existing is enough of a benefit to society that that will be all she's required to do. Just exist. Yeah, under socialism the government is going to require you to do labor and they get to choose what kind of Labor you do even if you don't feel like doing it. You will not be allowed to stay at home on the internet all day because you're lazy. You will be required to contribute in society.
