Spent this past weekend at Manhattan Baseball evaluating and helping develop player plans for every pitcher! Included in the eval was also a mobility and range of motion assessment. When creating a development plan, it’s important to have clear objectives and the “why” behind it. Ultimately, programs should be striving to improve on field performance, not just to get good at whatever the “thing” is. Goals for each player are going to be broken down into 4 main buckets: • Mechanical • Pitch Development (movement and velocity) • Pitch Execution (command) • CRG and mental side Every player will have: • Throwing plan with drill package specific to them • Bullpen plans focusing on their needs and goals • Arm care routine • Mobility program tailored towards areas needed to improve (primarily focused on spine, hips, and shoulders) • Strength program Head coach, Steven Rosen and pitching coach Will Hesslink are building something very special in NY. They want to get the most out of every single player and are willing to do whatever it takes to make that happen. Excited to see what this year has in store for the Jaspers!

I am so ANGRY. I STAND WITH JEFF METCALF! He is RIGHT. Father of Austin Metcalf: "You are part of the f***ing problem, my friend." Jake Lang said, "That's called 'white guilt.'" This is disgusting. I wasn’t going to say this before, but I will now. Jake is the one who called ME weak. The hate towards me started when I shared the arrest report. Afterward, I received death threats against me, my home, and my family. Despite those threats, I continued to investigate Dominique Alexander, his grift, and his blatant racist agenda. Even with my life threatened, I chose to speak the truth. And I NEVER brought race into it. Jake tried to get me to repost the flyer for the event and asked if I would attend. I responded that I will not participate in any race-baiting or inflammatory behavior. I will speak the truth and continue my investigative work. I told him I have a family to care for, I’m 5½ months pregnant, and my family comes first. He called me weak and promptly unfollowed me, which I’m perfectly fine with. To call the father of a murdered child weak and imply he is a coward is disgusting behavior. Those calling for "justice for Karmelo" are disrespectful, but this is just the same coin, different side. I refuse to be part of it. To Jeff Metcalf: Sir, I am so sorry this is happening to you and that this man called you weak. You are not weak. Some people woodwork. I train. It's my hobby. I work under a tight framework with a leading (remote) hybrid coach. Sometimes we have side quests, like my off and on goal of a 225 clean that I work on for a few weeks, then leave for months. Hit the goal yesterday. My training schedule doesn't leave a lot of room for side quests. I'm in some form of training ~2 hours/a day, six days a week, training in an intense hybrid style under an incredible remote coach. No matter where I am, the schedule never changes. Four years I've missed less than 10 sessions. I'm a walking directory of cool gyms in small mountain towns. I train ~2 hrs/day. A general week is: - Five days in the gym, balanced across strength, power, and gymnastic-heavy metcons. - 20 miles of low speed running, about 10 of that every Sat morning. ~90 min of zone 2 bike work I train in a hybrid style and compete a couple times a year in Hyrox races with a race coming up in a few weeks. I've long since passed the 1,000 pound club, which is not really my goal anyway. I train for balance. But we have a few side quests that go in and out, making slow progress each time. Belmont’s 6’3 PG Jack Smiley is one of the most intriguing non High Major Freshmen in college basketball. For the season Smiley averaged 9/2/3 on 48/44/81 splits in only 17 MPG. While being one of the best 6th men in all of college basketball. Smiley’s mix of shooting, pace, craft, passing, decision making, and finishing for his age is something that you don’t see often and he has a high ceiling. Smiley was one of the best PNR operators in the country this season where he finished the year in the 96th percentile in PNR play. Smiley’s ability to find his teammates with his vision and decision making along with his 3 level scoring helped him be a standout in the PNR. Smiley is also a skilled off ball player with his high level shooting ability and cutting, he’s also a strong connective passer. Smiley was one of 4 underclassmen this season who had an AST% of 25, and shot 40% from three on 40 makes, joining Cam Boozer, Christian Anderson, LaBaron Philon, and Darius Acuff.

NEW: New Haven, CT police release dash cam footage showing their police cruiser cutting off an ATV rider. Police were called after they received reports of ATV and dirt bike riders at East Rock Park. When one of the officers noticed an ATV rider coming down the road, he angled his car in front of the man causing him to crash into the car. After receiving backlash online, the police issued a statement, defending the officer’s action. "The officers slowed the cruiser and angled it to protect the families and pedestrians they had just passed, while providing a point of egress to the side of them for the oncoming ATV to pass the cruiser," they said. "As the cruiser was slowing down, the operator lost control of his ATV, and struck the front passenger side window of the cruiser." The man on the ATV was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Parents and coaches of youth athletes... Before worrying about sport specific lessons, a speed training coach or an organized strength and conditioning program take a quick assessment and figure out...can my young athlete do these things: Can you skip in a straight line and in multiple directions? Can you backpedal? Can you crawl 20 yds under control with hips low? Can you crab hold for 30 sec? Can you hop forward/back and side to side on both without putting the other foot down? Can you hang from a bar for more than 30 sec? Can you balance on one leg for 30 sec? Can you stand on one leg and touch the ground without falling over? Can you jump and land without collapsing? Can you take 10 big steps forward (a lunge) with falling over? Can you front shoulder roll, cartwheel, or somersault? All these are simply basic movements that set the foundation to be able to learn more complex athletic/sports specific skills. Youth athletes should be exposed to basic movements early and often and ultimately mastered before attempting to move on to high performance training. #LTAD

My #SundayShare is 2 v 1 practice looking at forward passing and movement to receive. A key task is off the ball movement - players must time their run to receive in the central channel (which defenders cannot enter) to progress to the final third. Coaching points: · Positioning to receive: ideally on the half turn. · Movement off the ball: looking for space and angles to receive. · Decision-making: timing of runs and the pass. · Technique – weight of pass; also angle. · Creativity: core moves, especially blind side runs, diagonal run/straight ball and vice versa. Progression: 2nd defender can enter the zone. Nice first pre-season session with the U11 on Fri. #SundayShare The Sporting Resource #2v1
