UPDATE: Interceptor Barricade is now operational, and we have extracted over 850,000 kg of trash in the last few weeks. Now we await the real test: a heavy flood and a trash tsunami bringing hundreds of tons of plastic in just a few hours to fully validate our solution.

The scale of trash is hard to fathom, 850,000kg is x4 what @TheOceanCleanup have taken out of the GPGP in total so far. Unbelievable the scale of river pollution.

How do these figures compare with the other interceptors? Feels like the amount of trash at play here is significantly higher and more concentrated than at other sites

What do you do with the trash once collected?

Our goal is to recycle as much trash as possible. All the trash removed from the river is weighted on-site to determine the total catch quantity. Then it will be passed on to our local partners and waste management authorities.

Where will the plastic be brought after extracting it from the river?

Is there any work being done proactively with governments to prevent the plastic ending up in the rivers in the first place or is this just how its going to be with the interceptors?

Keep at it. It’s a minuscule amount but every adventure starts with the first step. Thanks

Could this help Ukraine deal with the ecocide Russia has perpetrated?
