Thanks to our governmental and local partners for helping us make this happen @muniguate, @marngt, @GtBiosfera, and Aliarse. Learn more about Interceptor Barricade:

I think this is good, but there also needs to be huge effort in improving waste management practices in the region as well as significant taxation and penalties for pollution. Need to solve the problem at the source, the effectiveness of brandades are questionable.

Great work. But the problem lies at source.

When I see how we treat our planet...it's insane! We destroyed everything. What is our legacy for generations to come? Thanks @TheOceanCleanup for the great, relentless work!

It would be great if we could convince corporations to reduce their plastic consumption, and even better if we could reduce plastic production in the first place.

How the plastic is removed after it is detained? How the barriers work if a flood arrive?

@jerryunfi1944 The trash will be removed by excavators on the riverside after the floods. The Interceptor Barricade was developed for the flood season only, since most of the times there's barely any water in the Rio Las Vacas.

And then what? How is it cleaned up

Good luck!

Good start. While making sure the waste gets disposed of properly it is of major importance that education steps up to the plate as well to do what is needed to educate young people and their parents how important a clean environment is in this overpopulated world we live in.
